The Men’s Final promises to be one to remember. It’s a rematch of last year’s final where Rafael Nadal won his third Grand Slam of the year.

The only Grand Slam Nadal did not win last year was the French Open—the only year he failed to win it since 2005.

This year, Djokovic goes for his third Grand Slam of the year. If he wins, he would replicate Nadal, in the sense that he did not win the French Open as well. Déjà vu anyone?

Nadal leads the series between them 16-12, but Djokovic has beaten him in five straight finals this year across all surfaces.

This will be the battle between the year’s best against the defending champ.

Djokovic looks to cap one of the best year’s tennis has ever seen, with his third Grand Slam.

Nadal looks not only to solve Djokovic’s recent domination over him, but to silence the critics that say he cannot return to the top of the rankings.

A win here will certainly go a long way in helping Nadal achieve this, and earn some big points to cut a small piece of Djokovic’s lead in the rankings—which he will retain regardless of the outcome here.

This will certainly be a battle of wills as much as it will be a tactical match. Djokovic has been able to turn the tables on Nadal, by beating him on his own game.

Djokovic’s defense is the best on the tour, and makes Nadal take more chances than he normally would, which has been the key on his wins this year. He comes from an epic come-from-behind five set win over Roger Federer, where he saved two monster match points for the second year in a row.

That win must have Djokovic’s confidence soaring sky high.

By Nadal’s standard, this has not been a great year for him, although he won the French Open. But a win here would definitely make it much better, and give him a boost in confidence for the rest of the year.

Both players were slowed down recently by injuries, but those seem like a thing of the past as they look in prime form and ready to roll.

It will be a fitting end to what has been a great US Open. No matter who wins, as fans we will see the top two performers on the Men’s tour go at it.

That is worth the wait for today.
