WWE WrestleMania XXVIII: 5 Wrestlers Who Need To Return by WrestleMania XXVIII

WrestleMania XXVIII is looking like it is going to have a decent card come April 2012.

However, I think the appearance of The Rock needs to be backed up by some more active legends.

There are five wrestlers I’d like to see at WrestleMania XXVIII to make it the biggest event since WrestleMania X-Seven.

A brief description will be given regarding the advantages of having them appear at the event, and returning to the WWE. This will be followed by the match I’d like to see them in, and the likelihood that they actually will return.

Brock Lesnar

I recently wrote an article detailing why Brock Lesnar will not be returning to the WWE, but a man can dream can’t he?

If he did come back, he could be built as indestructible, and possibly have a short feud with the other powerhouse of the WWE, Ezekiel Jackson, before moving on to main-event star Randy Orton.

Just a few appearances would make this one to remember.

He could return at the Royal Rumble because, let’s face it; there’s no better place to make an impact right?

He could obliterate everyone before being eliminated last minute, by either Orton or Cena (so as not to ruin his credibility.) 

This could lead to the short feud with Jackson on SmackDown, or possibly dive straight into the Orton feud mentioned.

Needless to say, with the right hype, this match at WrestleMania could be epic.

Match at WrestleMania: vs. Randy Orton

Alternate Match at WrestleMania: vs. John Cena

Likelihood of return: Never in a million years.

Batista

Batista left not long ago, and he has since been missed greatly by many fans.

I would love him to come back and get a match at WrestleMania.

If the feuds that Triple H is involved in now were over by this point, then it seems the most logical step for him to feud with the man he helped to build—"The Animal" Batista.

The storyline is already there, and Evolution could also make an appearance in the ring together, as Randy Orton and Flair could get involved.

Triple H can still go, and it would be awesome to see "The Animal" and the "Cerebral Assassin" go at it one last time.

I don’t think the match would be as good as in the previous slide, but it would be epic nonetheless.

If Triple H wasn’t available, and Cena was facing Lesnar and not The Rock, then I would like to see a Batista/Orton confrontation over something more than just who is more tanned.

Likelihood of return: Not likely

Chris Jericho

Nothing would give me greater pleasure than seeing the best in the world face The Undertaker for his last match.

If I’m honest, Jericho is the wrestler I want to return the most out of the whole list. He has been gone for what seems like forever, and I can’t wait to mark out when he finally does return.

He is wasted by not being in WWE while he still can. It actually annoys me that he has been gone for so long, because he is the best in the world at what he does and is a joy to watch.

He doesn’t mind putting other stars over for the good of the business, and I think he still has a lot more to give.

He is potentially the only wrestler left who could break The Undertaker’s streak. This would have to be his match at WrestleMania, if only to prevent The Undertaker vs. Triple H III.

The alternate match I could potentially see him in is a "best in the world vs. best in the world" match against CM Punk.

Both claim to be the best, and I’d like to see who really is. I think this could even possibly be a bigger show stealer than Jericho vs. The Undertaker.

Likelihood of return: Quite good if he gives reality shows and Fozzy a rest.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin

Austin and CM Punk have already had a short war of words on Twitter (which can be found on pwinsider.com) which got some fans buzzing.

They also exchanged words on Monday Night Raw a few months ago, which I’m going to admit made me mark out.

To see the best in the world go against the infamous Rattlesnake would make me buy the pay-per-view right there and then, even if I had to take a loan out to do so.

Unfortunately, I’m not sure Austin is too interested in coming back to the ring, as much as I’d like to see it happen.

Surely he can go one more time?

This would have to be bigger than Cena vs. Rock.

Match at WrestleMania: CM Punk

Likelihood of return: Not as likely as I’d like.

The Undertaker

This is the last person on my list, and probably the most likely person to return for WrestleMania XXVIII.

Many think he will probably face Triple H for a third time, to reach 20-0 at WrestleMania.

However, if we go off the fantasy booking in the rest of this slideshow, then I would like to see him face Chris Jericho.

I am aware that people might not rate Jericho highly enough to see him face the Undertaker in the Phenom’s proposed last match.

Nevertheless, I believe the Undertaker will steal the show from Rock and Cena this year, unless he ends up facing Mark Henry.

Likelihood of return: Pretty much certain
