Barcelona FC: Eric Abidal Rejects Contract Extension
Eric Abidal has rejected an offer from FC Barcelona to extend his contract, according to online magazine Inside Futbol.
Abidal was in the news in the last season due to his battle against a liver tumor. The tumor was said to be benign and was removed.
Abidal was able to return in time for the end of the season, when the team won both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. He participated in the semifinal match between Barca and Real Madrid with success.

Abidal was the captain for FC Barcelona in the final of UEFA Champions League against Manchester United. Abidal was the first person to lift the UEFA Champions League trophy after Barca's victory over Manchester United at Wembley in the United Kingdom.
During the 2010-2011 season, Abidal had one goal, one assist, 12 shots, five of which were on target, 24 fouls committed, 19 fouls served and four yellow cards. He also served as a substitute seven times.
Abidal wants to negotiate another contract before it expires on more favorable terms. It remains to be seen what will transpire in these negotiations.
