FC Barcelona Transfer Rumors: 10 Possible Candidates for Barca in January 2012
The 2011 summer transfer window for FC Barcelona will be remembered as the return of Cesc Fabregas after a decade of rumors and a desire for a reunion between the player and his former team. I would like to fast forward to January 2012 and its transfer window.
Thomas Atzenhoffer wrote a recent article concerning the possible transfers to FC Barcelona for January 2012. While I congratulate Thomas Atzenhoffer for his work, I have decided to do an article on the 10 possible transfers based on rumors and what others have said while watching world football matches in restaurants that are sports oriented.
I commented on some of the news about the transfers and its possibilities. It was my desire to add some comic relief concerning some of the transfers with the purpose of breaking with the routine transfer window articles.
The comments and my opinions are solely my own and have nothing to do with BR. Without much introduction, let the slideshow begin.
Neymar in FC Barcelona?
1 of 10According to the online blog Spanish Football, Neymar has declared his intentions to either sign with FC Barcelona or Real Madrid. I did not want to talk about Neymar because it has become a dramatic soap opera with comic proportions.
The possibility of Neymar coming to Real Madrid or FC Barcelona in January 2012 is laughable. We have been witness to yes and no declarations by Neymar and his agents.
Chelsea FC and Rubin Kazan may want Neymar in their team. The idea of Rubin Kazan came from a person who watches soccer (with a group including myself) on the TV in a sports restaurant in Miami, Florida.
I also remember another person in the same restaurant commenting that FC Barcelona could help Neymar with his game. I still think that Neymar and his agent have to get their act together and make a permanent decision as to their future before committing.
Javier Hernandez to FC Barcelona?
2 of 10I did not want to mention Javier Hernandez going to FC Barcelona since the idea is laughable. I was at the same restaurant in Miami, Florida catering to sports when this rumor surfaced.
I decided to mention the rumor since the person who initiated it did not know what he was talking about. Javier Hernandez is doing great at Manchester United and has no intentions of leaving a club that cares about him.
Javier Hernandez is very loyal and grateful to Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United and England. Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United and England have returned the favor.
The person who initiated this rumor was forced by the general public in the restaurant to retract his rumor after being the subject of derision. The rumor of Hernandez moving to FC Barcelona never surfaced afterwards in any conversation in Miami, Florida.
John Jairo Ruiz: A Big Possibilit from Costa Rica
3 of 10John Jairo Ruiz received a formal offer from FC Barcelona. The offer was acknowledged by his agent (Ricardo Cabañas) and club (Deportivo Saprissa).
The U.S. Latin TV Conglomerate Univision even reported on this offer. The clubs Rubin Kazan and Palermo have expressed interest in the 17-year-old Ruiz.
I think that Ruiz will go and should go to Barca in January 2012. The reason is that he could continue the learning experience initiated in Costa Rica in the hands of a very prestigious club.
The feeling and mood is that Deportivo Saprissa, Ruiz's manager, can make a deal which would see Ruiz playing for Barca.
Arjen Robben: A Big Possibility from Bayern Munich
4 of 10Arjen Robben has been linked to FC Barcelona in the year 2009 and at the present time. According to the sports magazine Fanaticos Futbol, Robben expressed his desire to go to Barca if he receives an offer from Guardiola and company.
Robben (at the present time) reiterated that he is content with Bayern Munich. At the same time, Robben expressed that he would only go to FC Barcelona if he cannot stay with Bayern Munich.
Robben has had an illustrious career with Chelsea and Real Madrid before going to Bayern Munich. He has also played with the Dutch National Football/Soccer team as well.
I hope that Robben could get his wish to sign for FC Barcelona. The only problem would be his association with Real Madrid, but again, time will tell whether Robben will or not receive his wish.
Willian: From Shakhtar Donetsk to FC Barcelona?
5 of 10Willian has been the object of attention from clubs such as FC Barcelona to The Premier League clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United. I agree with Thomas Atzenhoffer when he says that Willian could be on the Barcelona manager's wish list next January.
The following record for Willian during his period with Shakhtar Donetsk and the UEFA Champions League speaks for itself about the midfielder from Brazil: 10 games started, five times used as a substitute, three goals, three assists, 20 shots, eight shots on goals, 11 fouls committed and 35 fouls served.
I think Willian would be great with FC Barcelona given his attacking modes as a midfielder. He would reinforce Barca in future matches.
Nani in FC Barcelona?
6 of 10While some of my friends (at a sports restaurant) have talked about Nani in FC Barcelona, I think Nani will not be going anywhere. Nani (like Javier Hernandez) is going to remain with Manchester United.
The idea (like Hernandez wearing a Barca uniform) was also voted down by the majority of the people discussing the football transfers.
Justin Bieber in FC Barcelona? Give Me a Break
7 of 10I came across a news segment of Justin Bieber ("singer" and "idol") training in the FC Barcelona grounds. I received the news segment while at another restaurant dedicated to sports.
One of the regular customers (of the restaurant) had her laptop and wanted the group to see Justin Bieber "training" for Barca. I had to see this to believe it.
My reaction (and the reaction of others in the restaurant) was one of laughter. I cannot fathom Justin Bieber playing world football/soccer or any other sport.
My opinion is that Justin Bieber did his "training" for the following reasons:
1. Publicity stunt for his career.
2. Love of World Football, especially Barca
Justin Bieber should stick to Hollywood and to being a spectator. The only good that could come out of this is Bieber can be a comic relief in a sporting event.
Kobe Bryant at FC Barcelona? I Wish
8 of 10Justin Bieber is not the only one who "trained" at FC Barcelona. Kobe Bryant was also "training" with FC Barcelona.
Kobe Bryant is well-known for the NBA and basketball, but he has world football and FC Barcelona in his veins. I liked how he interacted with the players and the fans of FC Barcelona.
My impression for Kobe Bryant is a down to earth person who would have made a great FC Barcelona player. The reality is that my wish cannot be granted since FC Barcelona and Kobe Bryant are on total opposites in the sports world.
I hope one day to play soccer or basketball with Kobe Bryant, but that is only a dream as well.
Roberto Carlos at FC Barcelona? He Deserves It
9 of 10I would like to return to more serious talk about candidates for FC Barcelona. The Catalan magazine Sport reported that FC Anzhi Makhachkala has expressed an interest in signing Daniel Alves from FC Barcelona.
Daniel Alves has expressed his desrie to remain at FC Barcelona instead of going to Russia. I think that FC Barcelona should sign Roberto Carlos from FC Anzhi Makhachkala in exchange for another player.
Roberto Carlos is the captain of the FC Anzhi Makhachkala team and is one of the greatest world footballers of all time. The negative side is that the supporters of Russian soccer (certain elements) have thrown bananas in the field.
It can only be degrading that Roberto Carlos has to suffer such indignities in a country that is to host a World Cup. No one has the right to treat another human being like trash.
The more I think of what is happening to Roberto Carlos, the more I think that he deserves to be signed with FC Barcelona or other clubs.
Gonzalo Higuain for FC Barcelona?
10 of 10Gonzalo Higuain would be a great candidate for FC Barcelona even though he plays for Real Madrid. According to ESPN, he is young, clever and steps up to the field without any problem.
Higuain (during the 2010-2011 La Liga season) had the following: 30 starts, three substitutions, 19 goals, seven assists, 86 shots, 45 shots on goal, 31 fouls committed, 20 fouls served and one yellow card.
Higuain can also learn the style of play for FC Barcelona. What happens with Higuain depends if Jose Mourinho and Pepe Guardiola could put aside the strong animosity and do what is right for Higuain.
Conclusion
I would like to thank BR and its readers for this review of the possible January 2012 transfers for FC Barcelona. The suggestions may not pan out in the beginning of next year, but it is better to have tried talking about transfers (and add some comic relief) than to have not done it.
