UFC 134 Results: 4 Fights for Forrest Griffin to Rebound
Unfortunately for Forrest, he got wrecked pretty badly.
Forrest Griffin was knocked out by Shogun Rua at the 1:53 mark of round No. 1.
That killed Griffin's two fight win streak, and puts him out of the title picture for the time being.
If Forrest does stick around to fight another day, there's a few interesting matchups out there for him to take.
Here's four potential fights for Forrest Griffin to rebound.
Tito Ortiz
1 of 5Maybe he could finish the trilogy with Tito Ortiz?
Ortiz is coming off a short notice loss to Rashad Evans at UFC 133, and before that he upset Ryan Bader to save his career at UFC 132.
Both fighters are looking for big wins to keep them relevant in the light heavyweight division, and these two will show the other no mercy.
Thiago Silva
2 of 5Thiago Silva would make a decent matchup for Forrest, as it pits two brawlers against one another.
Silva is currently suspended for falsifying his urine sample at UFC 125, and at that event (prior to it being overturned to a NC) he won a unanimous decision over Brandon Vera.
When Thiago gets back, he'll be looking for a big name fight that can catapult him back into title discussion.
Alexander Gustafsson
3 of 5Alexander Gustafsson recently defeated Matt Hamill, and showed that he is ready for the big time in the light heavyweight division.
Depending on how the UFC wants to grow Gustafsson, they could feed him a low level fighter that he is almost sure to beat, or they could give him a big step up with Forrest.
An up-and-comer against a veteran is always a fun fight to watch, and is a good gauge for the up-and-comer to see if he's ready for the big time, and the veteran to see if he's still relevant.
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
4 of 5Forrest Griffin and Antonio Nogueira were supposed to meet at UFC 114, but Forrest was forced out with an injury, and Nogueira ended up winning a decision over Jason Brilz that night.
Since that time, Forrest has gone 1-1, and Nogueira has gone 0-2.
Both fighters are looking for a win, and a matchup with name value like this is always a good fight for the fans.
I feel as though this one is the most likely candidate for Forrest's next fight.
