Kim and Randy Couture: In Danger Outside The Octagon?

As if a looming fight with a former WWE behemoth is not enough to worry Kim and Randy Couture, Todd Eugene Beard, an associate of theirs in the Affliction, Inc. clothing venture has been calling and threatening Kim over the phone.

Kim went to court and obtained an order to prevent Beard from approaching her and banning him from attending either the weigh-in or the UFC 91 event to be held this weekend.

Apparently Beard threatened "to get them" and that he would "make them regret" their dealings with him.

My only question would be, "Why were the Coutures associating with a man who has a criminal career dating back to the early 1990s (in their clothing business)?"

Although I do not understand the situation, I think the timing is most unfortunate for the Coutures who obviously need to remain focused on what is being billed as "what may be the biggest fight ever in UFC history," Randy's title match with Brock Lesner.

Though Brock's octagon experience includes only three fights, due to his size a fight with him is not unlike a battle with a virtual gorilla. Randy will be outweighed by forty and some even venture sixty pounds of presumed solid muscle this Saturday night when he enters the octagon to face the MMA newcomer best known for his days in the WWE.

No one questions Randy's heart or ability, but many are convinced that even his vast experience will be no match for Lesner's sheer bulk.

Both men have wrestling credentials above and beyond what the usual MMA fighters posses, but the unevenness of the size and the age factor have had the whole MMA world debating the probable outcome since the day the match was announced (upon Couture's return to the UFC), just a few months ago.

Dana White could not be happier with the hype surrounding the showdown, unless of course the sales go beyond the 1.2 million he has estimated.

With all this going on, Kim and Randy do not need the distraction of a stalker outside the ring as well.

Thankfully, a judge agreed by granting Kim's request and subsequently "banning Beard from contacting, intimidating, threatening or otherwise interfering with Kim at her home or in public."

Want to bet on whether or not the judge is an MMA fan?

Hope Beard hadn't already purchased tickets. Now that would be a shame.
