Arsenal-Wigan: Carling Cup Player Ratings

Callum D'SouzaNov 11, 2008

Lukas Fabianski: 7.5: Some amazing saves that no doubt impressed Wenger. A solid Captain as well, must be dangerously close with Almunia for starting keeper.

Gavin Hoyte: 7: Looked good in attack but was almost caught out in the defence a couple of times. A Solid right-back.

Alexandre Song: 7.5: Was solid at his second choice position and pulled of a number of fine interceptions.

Johan Djourou: 8: Cleared everything that came at him and set up Carlos Vela's goal. Must be close toย first choiceย center half.

Kieran Gibbs: 8: Should have scored but saw his shot blocked. Did all that he needed to in attack and defence, a solid player

Jack Wilshere: 9.5: Wenger's new wonder-kid won the Man of the match and is still only 16. Great balance and composure.

Aaron Ramsey: 9: Showed great strength and skill. Another who is dangerously close to first team call up.

Mark Randall: 7.5: Started well and looked solid but was too uninvolved towards the end

Fran Merida: 9: Has a huge future and has all the traits of a stunning midfielder.

Jay Simpson: 9: His first start for the club and he didn't disappointโ€”two great goals, looks a fine player.

Carlos Vela: 9: A smiling star who played a great game, scored a beautiful goal, and could of scored more. Huge Future.

Substitutes:

Amuary Bischoff: 6: Has been hampered by injury but looked like a player with potential.
