UFC 133 Weigh-In: Watch Tito Ortiz & Rashad Evans' Ice Cold Stare Down

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

UFC 133 Rashad Evans vs. Tito Ortiz isn't the most glamorous fight card UFC has ever created, but other bouts, including Vitor Belfort vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama, are certain to create plenty of buzz. The main event with Evans and Ortiz will be the start of big things for the winner and will send the loser spiraling down the UFC ranks.

Things got started between the two men in the main event at Friday's weigh-in. After the two men stepped off the scales, they met for the obligatory post-weigh-in photo shot and had an ice cold stare down.

These two men are two of the best fight promoters in the history of MMA. They know when it is time to open their mouths and talk trash in order to get more people to buy the show. But there is something to be said for letting a picture do all the talking; no words, just raw emotion as you stare into the eyes of the man with whom you are going to lock horns.

Evans enters this fight as the favorite, as he should because he has had more success than Ortiz in recent years, and he needs a win at UFC 133 to retain the light heavyweight title shot he earned last year when he beat Quinton Jackson.

Ortiz, meanwhile, took this fight on just three weeks notice and the emotionally-charged, career-saving win over Ryan Bader four weeks ago.

This is a fight that is four years in the making. Evans and Ortiz fought to a draw at UFC 73 in July 2007, though Ortiz would have won the fight if he hadn't been docked a point for holding on to the cage. It was the first time Evans failed to walk away from a fight with a victory, though he has lost once since, and Ortiz's career really hit the skids after that fight.

Evans is going to walk away with a victory in this fight, but with Ortiz being in such great shape and holding his ground at yesterday's weigh-in, you would be foolish to completely dismiss him in this fight.
