Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather: 4 Reasons This Fight Will Finally Happen
The mega-fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather that has been the talk of the boxing world for the past few years looked like it may never happen, but there is light at the end of the tunnel; and the fight has a good chance at coming to fruition sooner-than-later.
There is no fight bigger than the possible bout between Pacquiao and Mayweather, and the two camps should be doing everything in their powers to get the fight signed and ready for prime time.
Here are four reasons why the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight will become reality and not just a dream bout that takes place in a video game.
Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather: 4 Reasons Why the Fight Will Finally Happen
1 of 5Nowadays when the average fan gets into a boxing debate, most of the time it's about whether the Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather fight will ever take place.
Mow more than ever the possibility of the mega-fight actually taking place is stronger than the feeling that the fight will never be more than a dream match that takes can only take place in a video game.
Here are the four reasons that I feel that the biggest fight in recent memory will take place and give all the fans what they have wanted to see the past few years and counting.
1. All the Talk Has Shifted from Trash Talk to Fight Talk
2 of 5Every since the Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather fight talk began back a few years ago, most of the talk—after the initial attempts to get the fight going—between the fighters camps has been all trash talk up until recently.
Most of the talk as of late between the two camps has been less negative and more promising, mainly focusing on the desire of both Pacquiao and Mayweather to get the fight in the ring and out of the press.
Mayweather used the press conference promoting his next fight against Victor Ortiz to tell the world that Pacquiao is next on his list, which in itself a giant step forward to getting this bout going.
2. Money Money Money
3 of 5Sure, both Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather have made mega-millions during their prolific boxing careers, but the money to be made by both fighters if this bout gets off the ground is far too much to ignore.
With both Pacquiao and Mayweather both expected to rake in anywhere from $50-100 million a piece for the super fight, both fighters could be set for the rest of their lives—if their not already.
Further more, if Mayweather is indeed in financial hot water, then this huge sum of money could easily ease all the pain his wallet may be feeling—assuming he pays his taxes on the purse.
3. Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Both Need the Fight for Their Legacies
4 of 5As Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather have picked-off opponents one-by-one, their real legacy will be defined by the mega-fight the two are destined to have.
Pacquiao and Maweather have beat the top-tier fighters in all the divisions they have been in—all though many say Mayweather waits until their out of their prime—and whoever would come out on top of the fight between the two would cement their spot as their generations top fighter.
If the fight never happens then both of the Pacquiao's and Mayweather's legacies will be tarnished and always leave open the argument of who was better and why the fight never came to fruition.
4. The Media and Fans Are Growinig Tired of Speculating
5 of 5Over the last few years there have been the ups-and-downs of the Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather saga and as time runs on, more-and-more people are growing tired of hype built on speculation.
It's getting to the point now that boxing fans and experts alike feel like their beating a dead horse by keeping the talk of Pacquiao vs. Mayweather, and are losing hope that the last mega-fight for the foreseeable future may slip through the cracks.
Time is not on the two fighters side being that as they grow older, the less important the fight will be perceived. If Pacquiao and Mayweather take another two-to-three years to actually get the fight off the ground not many people are going to be as into it it as they would be if it takes place within the next year.
