Tottenham Transfer News: Watch Spurs' New 18-Year Old Juggling Star from Barca
Four years ago Cristian Ceballos rocketed to fame after keeping up then-Barcelona footballer Ronaldinho in a juggling duel.
The famed development club at Barcelona promptly signed the then-14-year-old, but his future never exactly panned out the way the Catalan giants had planned.
Today, Tottenham announced the signing of Ceballos after a successful trial run according to Mirror Football:
"Tottenham have completed the signing of former Barcelona youngster Cristian Ceballos. Ceballos, who can play as an attacking midfielder or forward, will now go into Tottenham's development squad.
"
Barcelona is noted for developing some of the best talent in the world at their facility, evidenced by their continued dominance in La Liga and Europe alike, but obviously just juggling like a superhero wasn't enough to keep Ceballos around.
But Tottenham Hotspur saw enough at their facility in Chigwell, and now he'll get the chance to develop in England with a club trying desperately to hold onto some of their younger talent as we speak.
Both Gareth Bale and Luke Modric are wanted by top clubs around Europe, but club chairman Daniel Levy is fighting to hold onto them, Modric most notably.
It will likely be some time before we hear Ceballos' name again, but Spurs lose little in giving the Barca developmental castoff a shot.
He's obviously got incredible feet and awareness for the ball, but it will be interesting to see how the rest of his game develops. It was believed that he had interest elsewhere and, according to Spurs' technical co-ordinator Tim Sherwood, they think he has the potential to "play top-level ball" in the future.
If he continues to progress he could eventually get a shot to star at White Hart Lane, and may even be able to parlay it into a bigger signing elsewhere down the road.
Like so many others before, even as Spurs continue to battle for a seat at UEFA Champions League table, Tottenham serves as a proving ground for potential big power clubs to steal rising talents.
The last silverware win for Tottenham was the League Cup triumph in 2008.
