Manny Pacquiao to Train 9 Weeks for Trilogy with Juan Manuel Marquez

Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao will train for nine weeks in preparation for his third fight with Juan Manuel Marquez on November 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nev.

Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach said only three weeks will be spent in the Philippines while the remaining six weeks will be conducted at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood.

Roach is currently busy with Amir Khan, who is scheduled to face Zab Judah on July 23 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

Earlier, Roach said he wants the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight as soon as the unbeaten boxer gets past Victor Ortiz on September 17.

“We want that fight badly,” Roach said. “We agreed to everything he asked for the last time... and nothing happened.”

“Last time, we agreed to everything he asked. On my side and on Manny’s side, we want that fight a hundred percent,” Roach said.

“We’re gonna fight Marquez in November and anytime after that. If (Mayweather) wants to fight the next day, we’ll be ready,” he added.

But in recent turn of events, Roach is now saying the Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight may not happen next year after Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer announced plans for a possible Mayweather vs. Khan fight next year if Khan beats Zab Judah on July 23.

It would be easier for Schaefer to arrange the match as Khan and Mayweather are being promoted by Golden Boy Promotions.

Roach believes he may be facing Mayweather next year with Amir Khan and not  Manny Pacquiao on his side.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum is traveling to Manila on July 30 for the kick off ceremonies at the Luneta Grandstand of a press and promotional tour that will bring Pacquiao and Marquez entourage to Singapore, Tokyo, Abu Dhabi with probable stops in London.

The entourage will then proceed to New York and California before winding up in Mexico for the final leg of the tour.
