At UFC on Versus 4, Cheick Kongo showed a ton of heart as he made a huge comeback against Pat Barry.

Barry had Kongo hurt bad, landing a flurry of punches. But Kongo regained his composure good enough to land a couple of hard shots of his own, knocking out the American Kick boxer.

With the win, Kongo showed just how much he could overcome.

Here are some fights the Frenchman should consider if he wants to move up in the division.

Winner of Brendan Schaub vs Minotauro Nogueira

Cheick Kongo was once considered a contender in the UFC’s heavyweight division.

Taking on the winner of Schaub vs. Nogueira could be a starting point to determine if Kongo can make his way back up.

Schaub is a young fighter who wants to prove he belongs with the best, while Nogueira is a former champion looking for one last push.

Roy Nelson

Roy Nelson is coming off of two losses and is looking to rebound.

Nelson was the first guy to go three full rounds with Junior dos Santos, and he showed a ton of heart taking huge shots.

Both Kongo and Nelson can take some shots and both are looking to prove they belong up there with some of the division’s best.

Mike Russow

Russow is 3-0 in the UFC and 14-1-1 in his MMA career.

Russow may be a guy that flies under people’s radars, but he has shown that he can be dangerous on the ground, as well as on the feet.

A matchup between Kongo and Russow could be a great striking match up.

Matt Mitrione

Both Kongo and Mitrione fought Sunday night, and won by knock out.

This would be the biggest test in Mitrione’s short career.

If Kongo losses the match it could prove that he will be stuck as one of the division's  gatekeepers.
