Anderson Silva to Fight at UFC 91?

Brian OswaldOct 28, 2008

It sounds like some of the criticism is starting to hit home for Anderson Silva. UFC president Dana White told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that Silva wants to get right back on the horse:

"He's flipping out. He wants to fight again, like, on Nov 15. He's upset about his performance and he wants to fight again immediately."

A Silva appearance on Nov. 15 is highly unlikely. There's no one of any quality who would take a Silva fight on three weeks notice for UFC 91. The following UFC cards, 92 & 94 are completely stacked so where would a Silva fight fit in?

UFC 93 in Dublin could use some beefing up. Right now the main event is Rich Franklin v. Dan Henderson and the second fight is Shogun Rua and Mark Coleman.

The UFC should make a fight for Silva at 205. Who should the next victim be? Dana White told Yahoo! Sports on Saturday that he feels sorry for the next guy who fights the 'disrespected' Silva.

White had little response to a question about matching up Chuck Liddell and Silva in London in February. That match-up does have huge sizzle and all parties involved may feel some pressure to repair the image of both Liddell and Silva with a superfight.

That was being reported on various internet sources.

Hopefully this breaking news will quell any rumors about Silva being bored or being disrespectful. It should validate his claim that he planned on letting the fight go up to five rounds, which shows respect for Coteโ€™s punching prowess.

So, no disrespect to anyone; not to Cote and not to the fans in attendance. And he certainly doesnโ€™t look to be bored with his eagerness to fight so soon.

While they may not be able to get a fight together for UFC 91, perhaps they can let everyone see Silva fight for free on the Dec 10 card โ€œFight for the troops.โ€ This should make those who spent their hard earned money feel a little bit better.

As for Chicago, the only thing that will make them happy is a Cubs' World Series.

So here is to Silva getting back into the octagon sooner rather then later. I am sure thatโ€™s something all of us MMA fans can agree on.
