The NCAA baseball tournament gets underway this weekend in Tallahassee, FL at the home of the Florida State Seminoles, Dick Howser Stadium.

The four teams include the host, Florida State, Alabama, UCF and Bethune Cookman.

These teams have several common opponents. One team they all played was the #2 seed in the entire tournament, the Florida Gators.

Let's take a look at how each fared in that match-up.

FSU: 3-1 vs. Florida. They won 5-3 in Tampa, 5-2 in Jacksonville and 3-1 at home. They lost 5-4 at Florida.

UCF: 2-0 vs. Florida. They are the only team in the last 100 Gator games to win while trailing after eight innings. They pulled out a 4-3 win in Gainesville with a two run rally in the ninth. They also won 8-6 at home.

Alabama: 0-4 vs. Florida. Only one game was close, a 2-1 loss on 4/24. Three games were played in Gainesville and one at the SEC tournament in Hoover, AL which the Tide lost 6-0.

B-CU: 0-1 vs. Florida. Lost 11-0 in Gainesville.

Now let's see how they did against each other.

2/22 UCF 13 B-CU 0

2/27 UCF 12 Alabama 4

5/6  FSU 8 UCF 0

5/7 UCF 14 FSU 10

5/8 FSU 6 UCF 1

5/11 UCF 8 B-CU 1

Other games of interest, Alabama lost two of three to Auburn (5-7,7-8,7-6). B-CU split with Auburn (2-9, 5-2) and lost to Miami 5-3. FSU took two of three from Miami (6-5,2-0,1-5).

UCF lost to Miami 4-1. B-CU went 2-2 against Stetson. FSU went 1-1 vs. Stetson. UCF was 2-0 vs Stetson.

Stetson is a No. 2 seed in the Columbia SC regional.

What does all this tell us? It tells us that FSU is probably the strongest team in the bracket. But it also tells us that each of these teams is capable of beating any of the others.

This bracket should be one of the most entertaining of them all.
