WWE Raw: Creative Disinterest in All Things Not John Cena

Trey StylesMay 2, 2011

The Miz/Alex Riley feud is beginning. We saw seeds planted at Extreme Rules, things went even further after the Raw match.

Side Note: The whole referee-title, belt-decision reversal came across looking really convoluted. I mean there is no reason a person who covets a title would rush to grab it after the match he just won it, right?

I mean, is the new rule in WWE if you take the title before the ref gives it to you then you are disqualified and you have your decision reversed?

And before I get flamed, yes I know he cheated and hit Cena with the belt, but the ref didn’t even wait for the benefit of the replay, he simply saw Miz with the belt and assumed he must have committed some dastardly act.

However, the Miz/Riley feud had lost plenty of momentum already, a semi-prolonged argument between the two would establish the feud, but instead we have Cena who seconds prior was knocked out and prone getting up and attacking them both, for what can only be assumed as standing in the same ring as him while he wanted to celebrate.

And as for Cena, no mention of the fact that The Rock cost him a chance to win the title at WrestleMania, instead he’s attempting to set the world record for collective disinterest by having another year long title reign. I understand that their interactions will be limited over the next year but this is getting out of hand.

The writers have no idea how to book Cena anymore, his default setting is unstoppable powerhouse of rage.  Maybe it is to please kids, but kids like characters with depth. As it stands, WWE seems content with its “No Child Left Behind” booking.

This is no way to plan for the future, the only way people get over is by beating bigger names. With John Cena being the only big name, all roads lead through him. I can only believe in WWE's commitment to the Youth Movement once WWE understands that nothing bad comes from a Cena loss.
