Dinara Safina Cruises Into Quarterfinals at Grand Prix de SAR

At the Grand Prix de SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem in Fes, Morocco, the quarterfinal lineup has been written. Dinara Safina was able to defeat the No. 8 seedAlize Cornet in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. Also making it to the quarters was Anastasia Pivovarova, who defeated the No. 2 seed, Yaroslava Shvedova, 6-2, 7-6(5).

Alberta Brianti also moved into the company of the other 7 quarterfinalists with a win over Russian challenger, Ksenia Pervak, 7-5, 6-2. Brianti will face American Melanie Oudin, who movies the Solvenian Polona Hercog with a walkover due to an ankle injury. No. 7 seedSimona Halep will there, taking No. 4 seed Greta Arn. And local underdog, Nadlia Lalami will play the Belgian competitor, Kirsten Flipkens.

In doubles, Friday will see the No. 1 seeded team of Andrea Hlavackova and Renata Boracova will play the No. 4 seeded team of Mervana Jugic-Salkic and Darija Jurak. And on Saturday, Dinara Safina and Galina Voskovoeva take on the team of Nina Bratchikova and Sandra Klemenschits.
