MMA: Best Fights of All Time By Weight Class and Rank

David KimJun 7, 2018

After a debate with a close friend on the topic, I've decided to create this list of Best MMA Fights of All Time.

Unlike some other lists you may have seen, I've picked 1 best fight from each weight class (LW to HW) and ranked them against one another.

If you're ever in a position where you have to entertain some friends at home, put these 5 fights on the big screen tv and throw a few bags of popcorn in the microwave and let the good times roll ;)

5. Dan Henderson vs Wanderlei Silva 2 (205lbs)

1 of 5

Pride 33: The Second Coming

This was considered a Middleweight title fight as Pride, at the time, classified middleweights as 205lbs and below.  By today's standards this would be considered a Light Heavyweight fight.

Great fight, great finish.

4. Eddie Alvarez vs Tatsuya Kawajiri (155lbs)

2 of 5

Dream 5 Lightweight Grand Prix

Arguably, Alverez' most defining fight of his career to date.

3. Nick Diaz vs Paul Daley (170lbs)

3 of 5

Strikeforce Diaz vs Daley

Classic Nick Diaz.  I literally laughed out loud when Diaz got dropped and started walking with his hands on the mat taunting Daley (fully aware that Daley couldn't kick him at the time).

2. Fedor Emelienenko vs Kevin Randleman (205+lbs)

PRIDE Critical Countdown 2004

This fight is a classic and will always be one of my favorites.

1. Anderson Silva vs Vitor Belfort (185lbs)

5 of 5

UFC 126

Some of you may be scoffing at this as a #1 pick, but I implore you to re-watch this fight.  The build up to this fight was unbelievable.  You have two fighters who were former friends and were training with the same camp for some time.

This intensity showed itself at the weigh-in staredown (see the video).

The fight was just as intense as each fighter was trying to gauge the other and pick their spot to attack.  You can almost feel the adrenaline each time a fighter went on the offensive.

The finish, well I won't ruin it for those that haven't yet seen it.
