Rewriting WWE History Vol 1: The Nexus and the Anonymous Raw GM Part 2

"A stun gun costs John Cena the WWE championship!" Michael Cole yells right before Night of Champions goes off the air."

Let's recap part 1.

Wade Barrett uses his NXT title shot to defeat Cena at Summerslam with the help of the rest of the season one contestants.

After the match Wade Barrett calls his group "Nexus" because it is a nexus of men coming together to wreak havoc on the WWE.

The anonymous Raw GM officially replaces Bret Hart after Nexus beats down on Hart.

Barrett goes on to retain the WWE Championship with the help of an unknown assassin who used a stun gun on John Cena at Night of Champions.

Now on to part 2.

The Raw after Night of Champions Barrett cuts an eerie "winds of change promo" and alludes to a "bigger picture" of Nexus.

Speculation over the "bigger picture" is rampant among the IWC.

To further add flames to the fire the anonymous GM establishes a heel identity by siding with Nexus a majority of the time.

Should the anonymous Raw GM have been the leader of Nexus?

However the GM also rules against Nexus at times.

Why is the GM contradicting itself?

No hints, clues, or even teases are shown at all over the identity of the GM.

The Raw before Hell in a Cell the GM gives John Cena one last chance to face Barrett.

However he must defeat all the members of Nexus (except Barrett) in a gauntlet match. If he loses he must leave Raw.

Needless to say the stakes are very high.

He quickly dispatches Darren Young, David Otunga, and Michael Tarver.

He encounters little trouble with Heath Slater and Skip Sheffield. Justin Gabriel gives him a run for his money. It ends when Gabriel misses the 450 splash and Cena counters to an STF.

Daniel Bryan is the final man Cena must face. This time the GM says it's a No Holds Barred Match.

Bryan gets a lot of offense in until Cena lands his five moves of doom (no need to say which moves).

Inevitably the rest of Nexus beats down on Cena until the rest of the Raw locker room cleans house. Cena adjusts Daniel Bryan's attitude and wins.

Nexus theme song

Going to Hell in a Cell, Barrett and Cena put each other through hell. Cena kicks out of the Wasteland and Barrett kicks out of the Attitude Adjustment in addition to escaping the STF twice.

No Nexus members have a chance of entering the ring. David Otunga and Michael Tarver try to cut the cage but the entire Raw roster drives them out once again.

Now it is almost certain Cena wins. No heel has ever pinned John Cena cleanly since I can remember.

But Cena doesn't win. Barrett hits two consecutive Wastelands to pick up a clean victory over his nemesis.

The Cena-Barrett feud cools off heading into Bragging Rights. That is because Nexus attacks Cena on the Raw after Hell in a Cell, writing him off of television to take a much-needed vacation.

Heading into Bragging Rights, the Raw GM has a 12 man tag match between Raw members and Nexus to determine who represents Raw. Nexus wins the large tag match.

Smackdown GM Teddy Long counters by loading up his Smackdown team with superstars such as Edge, Big Show, the Hart Dynasty, Dolph Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio, and Rey Mysterio.

Instead of making it a huge 12 man tag match, it's will be a best of 3 series, with United States Champion Daniel Bryan facing Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler, Tag Team Champions Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater facing the Hart Dynasty; and Skip Sheffield, Michael Tarver, Darren Young, and David Otunga facing Edge, Big Show, Alberto Del Rio, and Rey Mysterio in an 8-man tag match. Newly acquired Edge is named captain for Smackdown's team.

Should Nexus have aided Kane in burying Undertaker?

The anonymous Raw GM had traded him to Smackdown for CM Punk right before Hell in a Cell, just like the storyline that actually took place. Edge was also feuding with the GM.

Wade Barrett defends his title against Randy Orton. Orton gets destroyed in a 8 on 1 handicap match against Nexus the week before Bragging Rights. Barrett goes on to retain the belt.

At Bragging Rights, Daniel Bryan defeats Dolph Ziggler to open the show. Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel lose their title belts to the Hart Dynasty. Edge and crew dispatch the remnants of Nexus to win the Bragging Rights trophy.

The only true main-event at Bragging Rights is Kane vs. Undertaker in a Buried Alive match.

Nexus aids Kane in burying the Undertaker, just like in the real match.

In spite of Barrett keeping his WWE Championship, Nexus and to a lesser extent the Raw GM take a step back after Bragging Rights.

Wade Barrett is furious over the Bragging Rights debacle and decides to make some purges to Nexus.

He then pairs up Darren Young and Michael Tarver against Skip Sheffield and David Otunga.

Sheffield and Otunga survive to remain in Nexus. Young and Tarver get beaten down by the rest of Nexus. They go down to FCW to develop some more. These two do not go away in this story.

Wade Barrett now focuses on Survivor Series. Barrett cuts yet another Nexus promo until John Cena's music hits.

Cena vows to destroy Nexus. He assembles an elite core of men who will defeat Nexus at Survivor Series and take back control of Raw.

This "elite" core of men include Cena himself, the Hart Dynasty, R-Truth, and John Morrison.

Nexus rolls out the group of Justin Gabriel, Daniel Bryan, Skip Sheffield, David Otunga, and Heath Slater.

The anonymous GM lays down the rules for Survivor Series. He announces the stipulations for the elimination tag match.

If Team Cena wins all members of Nexus are permanently banned from any WWE event. If Nexus wins, Nexus not only remains on Raw but each member officially receives a WWE contract.

To even sweeten the pot further if Nexus loses the United States Championship goes to R-Truth and the tag team titles go to the Hart Dynasty.

As for Wade Barrett, he must defend the WWE Championship against Randy Orton.

The IWC speculates who the GM is. They wonder why the GM is having face tendencies now.

Survivor Series comes along and the elimination tag match comes down to Justin Gabriel, Skip Sheffield, and John Cena.

Cena hits the Attitude Adjustment on Gabriel for the 1, 2, 3 count.

Suddenly Skip Sheffield does his best JBL impersonation and takes out John Cena with a clothesline. Only difference is Sheffield put on a glove loaded with metal. Of course the referee did not see it.

Sheffield pins Cena and Nexus gets yet another tainted victory over John Cena.

Wade Barrett has all the momentum against Randy Orton. He looks to finish off Orton until he eats an RKO!

"1! 2! 3!" The Survivor Series crowd yells.

Randy Orton is the new WWE Champion.

In retaliation Nexus quickly beats him down. Orton is out cold after a 450 splash from Gabriel plus several clotheslines by Sheffield. Nexus leaves the ring.

Survivor Series ends on a shocking note.

"Awesome!" The arena music blares. Miz cashes in his Money in the Bank briefcase to become WWE Champion after a skull crushing finale.

The Survivor Series crowd is stunned. The show ends with Miz holding the WWE Championship belt with tears in his eyes.

Miz cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase on Orton enables the Cena-Nexus-Raw GM angle to not directly involve the WWE Championship. It also creates a Orton-Miz feud similar to the one they recently had.

Now we focus on the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs pay-per-view. There is a lot of intrigue over the WWE Championship. The Raw GM announces it will be a TLC match between John Cena, Wade Barrett, Randy Orton, and the Miz for the WWE Championship.

This WWE Championship intrigue overshadows the Nexus angle and allows Nexus to take a break so to speak. This break will make sure the angle does not get stale and gives Nexus the legs to run through Wrestlemania.

Nexus does not entirely go away though. David Otunga starts to show signs of discontentment by questioning Wade Barrett's decision to bury the Undertaker and to expel Darren Young and Michael Tarver.

Fast forward to TLC, John Cena is about to climb to the ladder. But Wade Barrett somehow climbs the ladder and hits a Wasteland on Cena from the ladder. Cena falls into a table.

The spot is sick. Hopefully Cena is fine after that bump.

Orton tries to climb up but Michael Cole grabs his foot. Then Alex Riley pushes Orton off of the ladder into an unsuspecting chair ringside. The Miz beats Wade Barrett to the belt as he retains it in a great match.

Nothing new happens until the first Raw of 2011.

The first match of 2011 is John Cena vs. Wade Barrett in a 3 Stages of Hell match.

The first stage is a submission match. The second stage is a street fight. The third stage is a falls count anywhere match.

Barrett taps out to the STF for the first stage. Nexus helps Barrett win the second stage.

For the third stage, John Cena wins the falls count anywhere match after David Otunga accidentally cost Wade Barrett the match.

This marks the official end of the John Cena vs. Nexus feud.

On next Raw, Wade Barrett is so greatly infuriated by Otunga's incessant dissenting that he threatens to exile Otunga from Nexus unless if he can defeat Daniel Bryan.

Daniel Bryan goes on to win the match. Otunga is out of Nexus. He goes to FCW to work on his in-ring skills.

Who should have won the Royal Rumble?

Intrigue takes place at the Royal Rumble. There are five guys in the ring: Diesel, Wade Barrett, Daniel Bryan, John Cena, and Alberto Del Rio.

Also at the Rumble, Dolph Ziggler wins the World Heavyweight Championship with the help of Vickie Guerrero and Miz retains the title against John Morrison. The Punk-Orton feud still happens leading up into Wrestlemania.

Barrett and Bryan manage to throw Cena over the top rope. Shockingly (snicker all you want) Barrett throws his Nexus cohort over the top rope.

Out of nowhere, David Otunga, Darren Young, and Michael Tarver throw Barrett over the top rope. The rest of Nexus chases those three out of the ring.

All of Nexus is eventually cleared out. The only two men left are Diesel aka Kevin Nash and Alberto Del Rio.

Del Rio clotheslines Diesel over the top rope to win the Royal Rumble.

After the Rumble the Raw GM officially terminates the contracts of Darren Young, Michael Tarver, and David Otunga.

But another conflicting email says they can stay on as long as they can defeat Skip Sheffield, Heath Slater, and Justin Gabriel.

With the help of the mysterious assassin, Nexus wins. The assassin reveals himself as Seth Rollins, formerly known as Tyler Black from Ring of Honor.

Otunga, Tarver, and Young get sent down to FCW for even more training. They later reform a Nation of Domination type stable after Wrestlemania with Percy Watson, Mark Henry and R-Truth on Smackdown.

On the next Raw Bryan and Barrett jaw-jack about who the better man is and who the real leader of Nexus is.

Barrett demands Daniel Bryan face Skip Sheffield for the US Title or else he must leave Nexus. Bryan obliges. After interference from Barrett, Sheffield wins the match to become United States Champion.

Everything is still the same leading up to Elimination Chamber. Except Miz must defend the WWE Championship in the chamber against John Morrison, CM Punk, Randy Orton, John Cena, and Wade Barrett.

On the Smackdown side Edge wins back the World Heavyweight Championship from Dolph Ziggler. Teddy Long forces Vickie Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler off of Smackdown. Guerrero and Ziggler are still together.

Miz and Wade Barrett are the final two combatants in the chamber (I know heel vs heel is rare, just bear with me).

Barrett is about to win the match until Daniel Bryan enters the chamber and does a roundhouse kick to the head.

He drags Miz over Barrett to allow the awesome one to keep his belt going into Wrestlemania.

On the 2-21-11 episode of Raw, Daniel Bryan challenges Wade Barrett to a match at Wrestlemania.

But Barrett refuses the offer.

He then reveals the "bigger picture" to why he created Nexus.

What is the bigger picture? Who is the anonymous Raw General Manager? Is the anonymous Raw GM the bigger picture?

Stay tuned for part 3 to find out!

Part 2 is now under wraps. Part 3 will cover the end of Barrett's bigger picture promo to the eventual end of Nexus at the WWE Draft.
