WWE Breaking News: World Heavyweight Champion Edge Retires?

Micheal RobinsonSenior Analyst IIApril 11, 2011

UPDATE: Edge has appeared on Raw and has supposedly announced his retirement from the WWE after a 13 year career with the WWE.

If this is real, we are looking back on an historic career in the WWE as Edge has won more titles then anyone in WWE history.

He currently is the older of the World Heavyweight Championship.

If this isn't a work, and it is indeed real, we would see him relinquish the belt on Smackdown this week as well.

I don't really know what to say, or think right now.  I for one, am thankful to have seen his career first hand, but I am not ready for it to hang up yet.  With all due respect, I hope this is an angle.

WWE Monday Night Raw Preview: Edge to Make a Big Announcement

One week after Wrestlemania 27 in Atlanta, WWE Monday Night Raw comes to us from the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, CT.

After tonight, WWE and its superstars will head overseas for a few weeks, for the Wrestlemania Revenge Tour.

WWE Extreme Rules is only three weeks away.

We found out last week on Smackdown that Edge will be defending his World Heavyweight Championship in a Ladder Match against Alberto Del Rio.

Edge is expected to be on Raw tonight and has an important announcement regarding his career.

WWE has advertised this as "Edge's Career Over?" It should be interesting to see what the reigning World Heavyweight Champion has to say.

My personal opinion, he will be feeling remorse for his buddy Christian and how his career has gone. I don't think Christian will take it too kindly and we could see either man take a heel turn. That is what I would like to see.

Tonight, we could find out what the Raw main event will be and who The Miz will defend his title against.

Besides being one week removed from Wresltemania 27, we found out that The Rock and John Cena has been made official for Wrestlemania 28.

While WWE claims the chapter towards that match begins tonight, The Rock will not be on the show, as he is overseas in Brasil, promoting his new movie, Fast Five, which opens April 29th.

Newcomer Sin Cara has appeared on both Raw and Smackdown, but it hasn't been in an official match yet. It should be interesting to see if he has his first match tonight. He has been officially listed as a superstar on the Raw roster on WWE's website.

Last week, we saw him attack Jack Swagger on Smackdown. Two weeks ago, on his debut, he went after United States Champion Sheamus. Word has it that Sheamus is already overseas, so he won't likely be on Raw tonight.

Sin Cara is an exciting wrestler to watch and I am looking forward to his career in the WWE. I could go without the trampoline entrance though.

I wouldn't mind seeing him getting involved with the New Nexus and it's leader CM Punk tonight, if not Punk then Ziggler.

I don't expect many surprises on Raw tonight, maybe another Jim Ross sighting.

Would it be a good week to finally figure out what is going on with this mysterious Raw General Manager bit? Probably not a chance in the world.
