The infamous and penal sand traps of Augusta offer a stark differential from the colours of spring. Many of the contestants at this year's Masters decided that they ought to pay homage to the stark, colourless, palette of the one of the most famous fields of competition in golf.

Here are those who chose to wear that homage to the Crystal White of Augusta:

Carl Jackson

Carl, as many an old timer knows, is Ben Crenshaw's Caddy.  Dressed in the traditional Pure White jumpsuit, he is a living legend, on whose face are countless rounds and, undoubtedly, countless accounts of the annual occurrences at Augusta.

I pay particular homage to him and those unto whom he has been a role model.

Tiger and Stevie

While Carl Jackson probably never imagined a guy like Stevie, (AKA "The Enforcer"), from half a world away, would ever come to be carrying for Tiger—whose trousers were actually Grey—they both show an homage to the sands of Augusta.

Paula Creamer

Well, as unexpected as it may seem, Paula gave homage to the White of Augusta in her one-piece ensemble, but accompanied, as always, by her trademark Pink ... this time in her sneakers !!!

Graeme McDowell & Robert Allenby

These chaps both pay homage to White, but in completely opposite ways ...

Francesco Molinari

Our dear Italian friend sports a very fashionable ensemble of shirt and matching belt, but the trousers are especially fetching in not only their Pure White but their fit !!!

Alvaro Quiros

Alvaro, while missing the matching belt, does draw the viewer's eye from waist to shoes in nothing but Pure White, and a VERY tailored look !!!

Ricky Fowler

Even when Ricky brings out an ensemble not of matched parts, he looks just so perfect, with trousers of Pure White to match a shirt and hat with the same base colour (or lack thereof), but the other colours and matching shoes make the outfit.

Still, it's too bad Ricky has never been taught the proper way to wear a golf hat.

David Love III

While he may not be the Ryder Cup pick of many, he and Ralphie Lauren certainly know how to pay homage to the Augusta sand, while countering the Pure White with Pink or Salmon, whichever your eye saw ... either are wonderful colours.

Fred Couples

"Boom-Boom", whilst never being one for flamboyant dress, still found this round the time for his homage to the Pure White of Augusta, and here shows off that effortless swing.

If you are like me, you hope Freddie can prevail as he makes yet another cut in fine stead.

Rory McElroy

So, while he definitely dressed in homage to the sands of Augusta, Rory continued his history making hold on the leader position for a second round.  Will this be his position on 18 on Sunday as he looks to finish out a fairy-tale 2011 Masters ???

Only time will tell ...
