WWE WrestleMania 27: Top Five Contenders for the WWE Championship

1 of 6

As of a week ago, it seemed like a foregone conclusion that John Cena would walk out of WrestleMania the WWE Champion.

Following Cena's attack on Raw of the Rock, we all knew that Cena would be receiving a Rock Bottom at one point or another at WrestleMania 27.

It just so happened that occurred at the restart of the Miz-Cena match, evidently costing Cena the title.

Now that the Miz is still champion, who are the top five contenders for the WWE Championship?

5. Randy Orton

After defeating CM Punk last night, Orton has seemingly done it all.

He eliminated the Nexus, which is something that John Cena couldn't even do.

It appears now that he has run out of possible feuds on Raw unless he would go back to feuding with the Miz.

I really hope that this does not happen, as we already have seen these two face each other three times in the past four months and it would seem like a tired feud.

4. John Morrison

Most of us in the IWC would love to see another round in the Miz-JoMo feud.

John Morrison and the Miz had a phenomenal match on the first Raw of the year, yet never really finished their feud from there.

This could play on the history of the two as tag team partners, and would allow for two rising stars to get important face time for the future.

Plus, it would reward Morrison for being put in the abysmal position of having to work with Snooki during his WrestleMania match.

3. Triple H

Where can Triple H go now that we most likely have seen the last of the Undertaker?

I could foresee a scenario where Triple H cuts a promo tonight on Raw that talks about how great his match was, resulting in the Miz interrupting.

This would then lead to a feud between the two over the title, and would reward Triple H for putting over the Undertaker, even though Triple H carried the Undertaker in that match.

I would think that this would only happen if creative decides that the John Cena-Rock feud is better served being just those two, as opposed to a triple threat match.

2. the Rock

5 of 6

I'm not going to lie, I thought that it was highly possible that the Rock would be inserted into the match when the Raw GM interrupted his promo last night.

If the Rock were to challenge for the WWE Title, the only way that it would happen is as a Triple Threat Match between the Rock, the Miz and John Cena.

The Rock and Miz's rivalry is not as strong as the Rock-Cena, therefore signifying that a one-on-one feud for the title is unlikely.

1. John Cena

    Who else, but WWE's Superman?

It would be extremely surprising if Cena didn't face the Miz at Extreme Rules again for the WWE title.

The only way that this doesn't happen is if they decide to accelerate the Rock-Cena match to being next month.

By the way, I was amazed at how behind the Miz the crowd was at WrestleMania.

Being there in person, it really was apparent that even young kids are starting to turn on Cena and back the Miz.

One thing is for sure though, we will see another Cena-Miz battle for the WWE Title in the very near future.
