WWE WrestleMania: A Review of the New 'The True Story of WrestleMania'

Elliott SaltaresContributor IMarch 17, 2011

This release had serious potential. It could have been an insightful glimpse into the serious risks Vince McMahon took in launching the first-ever world-scale wrestling show. Instead, it simply grazes the surface with a few untold stories before leaning back into a puff piece.

I was really hoping for more. It begins well. The Rock-N-Wrestling connection, closed circuit venues, the celebrities, but it gets boring after about 30 minutes.

The biggest issue to be had is the glossing over several years of shows with next to no mention of the matches that fans would have appreciated more insight and feelings.

This is, without a doubt, the WWE version of history. They tow the company line really hard so there a some parts were you really have to grit your teeth.

On the whole, this documentary is well-made from a production standpoint. This is a story that needed to be told, but without the heavy WWE spin.

But what can we expect? After all, it is THEIR documentary.
