TUF 13 Finale: Pettis vs. Guida and Many More Fights Set

Sal DeRoseMar 17, 2011

After a long wait for Anthony Pettis (13-1-0) and months of speculation, Pettis versus Clay "The Carpenter" Guida (28-11-0) is now set for The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale.

The fight between Guida and Pettis will be the main event of the evening.

Pettis holds the distinct title of being the last WEC lightweight champion after beating Ben Henderson at WEC 53. In that event, Pettis unleashed his fury with the "Showtime Kick" that now lives in MMA history, launching himself off the cage at Henderson and giving a nice roundhouse kick to his face that was Chuck Norris-esque. Henderson lost via unanimous decision and was not knocked out.

Pettis was supposed to fight for the lightweight crown after the Frankie Edgar versus Gray Maynard fight, but both fighters fought to a draw and Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White immediately issued a rematch between the two fighters.

Now Pettis had a choice of whether to wait for the winner or risk his number one contender status in another bout. Pettis chose to risk his status.

Guida is on a three-fight win streak right now with two "Submission of the Night" victories. In his last fight against Takanori Gomi, Guida submitted the Japanese star via guillotine choke in the second round.

Also on the card will be former WEC fighter Scott Jorgensen (11-4-0) against UFC newcomer Ken Stone (9-2-0).

Stone is coming off a loss to Eddie Wineland at WEC 53 by a first-round knockout and is 3-2 in his last five fights. Jorgensen is coming off a unanimous decision loss to current bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz.

Another fight set for the card is a match between featherweights George Roop (11-7-1) and Josh Grispi (14-2-0). Roop was last seen at UFC Fight for the Troops 2, where he lost to Mark Hominick by TKO in the first round. He is 2-2-1 in his last five fights. Grispi, after winning his first four fights in the WEC, lost in his UFC debut to Dustin Poirier by unanimous decision at UFC 125.

TUF 12 winner Jonathan Brookins (12-3-0) will fight Jeremy Stephens (19-6-0), and Ed Herman (21-9-0) will fight a middleweight bout against Tim Credeur (12-3-0).
