FC Barcelona Renews Pep Guardiola's Contract Until 2012

FC Barcelona has announced that it will renew Pep Guardiola's contract as coach. The renewed contract is set to expire on June 30, 2012.

It is expected that the agreement will be formalized before a press conference within the next few days. Pep Guardiola has been at the forefront of FC Barcelona since 2008.

During his tenure as coach, the team was transformed as a powerhouse which resulted in multiple victories. The first victory was at the Copa Del Rey in Mestalla followed by another at the Bernabeu.

During the year 2009, FC Barcelona won its Spanish and European Cups simultaneously as well as the Clubs World Cup.

Guardiola has been on the bench during 159 matches with 117 victories, 28 draws and 14 defeats.

FC Barcelona is currently in first place in La Liga with 61 points followed by Real Madrid with 54 points. La Liga Tables are as of Sunday 6 February 2011 at 21:53 time in the United Kingdom.

The club have also seen the likes of Leo Messi, Gerard Pique, Andres Iniesta and Xavier Hernandez surprising the people who come to see one of the greatest clubs.

It is widely expected that there will be more to come for Barca in the next year to come.
