Post UFC 126: The 10 Most Brutal Knockouts In UFC History

Tim McTiernanFeb 8, 2011

The UFC has been around for 17 years. Throughout those years, it has given us many, many knockouts.

There are some that stand out in our minds, some that we will never forget, and some that were absolutely brutal.

These are knockouts that you just saw and went "holy sh*t!".

So here are the top 10 most brutal knockouts in UFC history.

Brittney is here because she is a knockout.

Note: I probably missed some really good ones, so leave your favorite brutal knockouts in the comments.

Honorable Mention: UFC 100: Dan Henderson Vs Michael Bisping

1 of 11

Obviously I overlooked this one.

10. UFC 126: Anderson Silva Vs Vitor Belfort

2 of 11

The most recent KO on the list, at UFC 126, Anderson Silva front kicked Vitor Belfort in the face on his way to defending his title.

It was a fantastic knockout that I will not be forgetting anytime soon.

We can all thank Steven Seagal for that one. Ha.

9. UFC 84: Wanderlei Silva Vs Keith Jardine

3 of 11

At UFC 84, Wanderlei Silva took on Keith Jardine.

After only 36 seconds, Wanderlei knocked Jardine out, and won knockout of the night and knockout of the year for his efforts.

8. UFC 92: Rampage Jackson Vs Wanderlei Silva

4 of 11

After two brutal knockouts at the hands of Wanderlei Silva, Rampage Jackson wanted revenge.

At UFC 92, he got it.

He sent Wanderlei to the canvas with a brutal left hook at 3:21 of round number 1, and followed it up with 3 punches on the ground until he was pulled off.

7. UFC Fight For The Troops: Josh Koscheck Vs Yoshiyuki Yoshida

5 of 11

At the first Fight For the Troops, the main event was Josh Koscheck against Yoshiyuki Yoshida.

At about 2:15 of the first round, Koscheck caught Yoshida and bounced him against the cage. Yoshida was clearly out on his feet (as Joe Rogan made so blatantly obvious) and on the bounce back, Koscheck hit him with a hard right hook, and Yoshida went down.

6. UFC 98: Rashad Evans Vs Lyoto Machida

6 of 11

At UFC 98, Lyoto Machida took on Rashad Evans for the Light Heavyweight Title.

In the second round of the fight, Lyoto caught Rashad with a flurry, and just kept going and going until Rashad couldn't take anymore.

It looked like he was jawing and laughing the whole time, but Rashad finally hit the canvas, and it was the beginning of the short lived Machida Era.

5. UFC 31: Shonie Carter Vs Matt Serra

7 of 11

At UFC 31, Shonie Carter took on the undefeated (4-0) Matt Serra.

With 9 seconds left in the entire fight, Shonie Carter threw a spinning back fist, which knocked Serra out cold.

The link is a great compilation, but jump to 2:50 for the back fist.

4. UFC 116: Gerald Harris Vs Dave Branch

8 of 11

At UFC 116, Gerald Harris took on Dave Branch.

Branch jumped up and put his arms and legs around Harris, attempting to pull guard, and Harris was having none of that. He pushed Branch's head away from him, and promptly slammed him to the canvas.

Branch was out cold, and Harris won knockout of the night for the second time in three fights.

3. UFC 70: Mirko Cro Cop Vs Gabriel Gonzaga

9 of 11

I almost hate watching this knockout, because Cro Cop is one of my favorite fighters. But nevertheless, this was an incredible knockout.

At UFC 70, Gabriel Gonzaga took on Mirko Cro Cop in a heavyweight title eliminator bout.

At 4:51 of the first round, Gonzaga shocked everyone, when he threw a head kick and sent Cro Cop down and out cold.

2. UFC 102: Nate Marquardt Vs Demian Maia

10 of 11

At UFC 102, Nate Marquardt took on Demian Maia.

In a bout that didn't last very long, Maia looked as if he were going for some sort of jumping strike, and Marquardt was having none of that.

He made Maia spin, and fall flat on his face after only 21 seconds.

He jumped on top of Maia, but walked away after seeing how hurt he was.

He won knockout of the night, if you couldn't have guessed.

1. UFC 8: Gary Goodridge Vs Paul Herrera

11 of 11

In one of the earliest UFC's, UFC 8, Gary Goodridge took on Paul Herrera.

In only 13 seconds, Goodridge got Herrera in a crucifix (slavery) position and rained elbows down on his face.

This video is definitely the most brutal thing I have seen in the UFC.

I can't find a video from the start of the fight. But it's still epic.
