WWE Royal Rumble 2011: 5 Things That Should Happend at RR For Storyline Purpose
The Royal Rumble has been one of WWE's biggest attractions since Jim Duggan won the first Rumble in 1988.
After last Monday's RAW, it is fair to say we are in store for a tension-filled 2011 Royal Rumble.
Here are the current matches scheduled for this year's event:
Randy Orton vs. The Miz For the WWE Championship
Dolph Ziggler vs. Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship
Melina vs. Natalya for the Diva's Champion. (Yet to be confirmed by the WWE)
40-Man Rumble Match.
The following slides highlight some possible Rumble storylines.
Beth Phoenix Should Help Natalya Beat Melina
1 of 5
Natalya and Beth Pheonix are the most talented Diva's in WWE.
The WWE have struggled to replace the likes of Trish Stratus and Lita. This is WWE's golden chance to do so.
They need to build the relationship between Natalya and Beth, and then have it brutally destroyed by Beth's hunger for the title.
Then, at WrestleMania, it will be Beth Phoenix vs. Natalya. Now you have a great Diva's match at the grandest stage of them all.
What are the actual chance of this happening?
Pretty high, if you consider it.
With Melina's change in attitude, Beth's return and Natty's title win, WWE has taken steps in cleaning up the Diva's division.
Christian Should Attempt to Take Edge's Title
2 of 5
WWE should turn Christian's real-life anger into a storyline by having him wail on Edge.
Christian cannot be happy with the comparison of Edge's WWE status and his own, considering he and Edge are equally talented in my mind.
They both work the crowd amazingly. They both have unlimited in-ring skills. They both are very passionate and consistent wrestlers and they work well with one other.
What are the chances of this actually happening?
Very slim.
Vince McMahon, in the past, had no interest in pushing Christian at all. He would rather see him leave the company than give him a push.
Edge will likely be drafted into the Wade Barrett-Corre angle.
Kofi Kingston Should Be Eliminated
3 of 5
Why should this happen?
To get proper utilization out of Kofi, The Royal Rumble and the Intercontinental Championship.
Who would be the most likely challenger?
Cody Rhodes or Drew McIntyre would fit the bill nicely. I am sick and tired of watching Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger.
It also would be interesting to see Kofi go up against Chris Masters. If Masters eliminates Kofi, a stroyline would be nicely set up, as would a heel turn for Masters.
Ezekiel Jackson or Justin Gabriel also could be the challenger.
What are the chance of this happening?
Pretty high, as Kofi is not going to win the Rumble anyway, so why would the creative team not expand the storyline a little?
Undertaker Should Play Mind Games wIth Kane and Barrett
4 of 5
This is the beauty of Undertaker's character. He does not even have to be fit in order for the WWE to use his character to the fullest.
Why should this happen?
This may push Wade Barrett into revealing why on earth he helped Kane literally bury the legendary Deadman.
It also would get the crowd going, and maybe increase ratings.
What are the chances of this happening?
It is very hard to tell. However, considering WWE have not yet done it, it will probably not happen.
The Miz Should Defeat Randy Orton Cleanly
5 of 5
Why should this happen?
To prove to Cena and all the haters wrong.
Miz and Cena will definitely meet at WrestleMania, which allows Miz to cut a promo and brag, leading Cena to beat him up.
What are the chances of this happening?
Pretty slim. The WWE never let any of their transition champions win cleanly, especially against a name like Randy Orton.
