In case you don't know me very well or you aren't familiar with my articles, my name is Joseph Morgan and I write mostly about Florida Gators football for Bleacher Report.
I am a junior at Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and I am enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
Currently, I am taking IB Math Studies and I have to complete and score well on a major project this school year in order to receive my IB diploma at the end of my senior year.
As my math teacher sat at the front of the room, carrying on about God knows what, I thought quietly,
"How could I make this project interesting? What could I possibly do to get excited about this?"
I finally decided that I would do a study on something I enjoy. Something I have a burning passion for. Something that I love.
That’s right. The topic for my math project is college football.
The sport that I, along with millions of other Americans, obsess over year-round is now my homework.
(Just admit it, you’re jealous. Most of you were never lucky enough to do a project on college football in high school!)
I plan to use the chi-squared test (follow the link, if you dare!) to complete my project and it requires an anonymous survey based on several questions.
This is where I need your help.
If you don't mind, I would really appreciate your participation in my college football survey. It will only take a minute of your time and your participation would be of great value to my grade.
No, there is no material incentive, but I give you the opportunity to let your voice be heard as a fan. The chance to make your opinion of the BCS known to the world.
Now is the time for the college football fans of Bleacher Report to speak out in favor or in spite of the Bowl Championship Series.
In addition, I will have each and every one of you to thank when I cross the stage at my high school graduation during the spring of 2010.
So, if you will indulge me, here are the questions for my survey:
BCS or Playoff System?
1. Do you like the current BCS format or would you prefer a playoff system to determine college football's national champion?
2. Has your favorite team/school won a national championship since the inception of the BCS in 1998?
3. Which age range best describes your current age? 29 and younger or 30 and older?
4. What is your gender? Male/Female
If you would like to participate in my survey, you can leave the information below this article as a comment, leave a note on my profile, or send me an e-mail at email@example.com.
I assure you that your identity will remain anonymous in my project, but your voice as a fan will be heard loud and clear.
The completion of my math project will take me several months, but I will keep the Bleacher Report community updated on the results of the survey and I will post my final project in the form of an article when it is completed.
Thank you for taking the time to help me with my math project. Long live college football and long live the voice of the fan!
