The Oregon basketball court, Matthew Knight Arena, was used for the first time yesterday, as the Ducks beat the USC Trojans, 68-62 in Pac-10 college basketball play.
12,364 fans showed up to see this incredibly cool court that is truly unique.
With that in mind, here's a list of the 10 coolest fields and courts out there.
10. This Random Court
This was found randomly on the internet and isn't a professional field, so it can't rank any higher than No. 10.
But it's awesome.
Visit greenscenelandscape.com to check out whatever it is they do.
9. University Of New Haven's Blue Turf
Blue turf is cool.
But too bad that the University of New Haven football team copied it from Boise State. So I can't put them any higher than No. 9.
I do love the yellow and blue combo, though.
8. LSU's Purple Turf
This would have been awesome.
LSU put out an April Fool's joke that they were switching to a purple-turf field.
I give them props for the joke, but not for the lack of cojones. Just do it, Tigers!
7. Run's House Court
The best court on reality television. Check out that image in the paint.
6. Eastern Washington's Red Turf
Eastern Washington has one of the most ridiculous fields out there. I think it's a horrible idea (other than the publicity it generates), but nonetheless, it's unique and cool.
Now that's a confusing practice...
5. Boise State's Blue Turf
The original blue turf definitely deserves a spot on the list.
Orange end zones are a nice touch, too.
4. West Hills High Schooll's Alternating Blue Turf
This high school in the San Diego area knows what it's doing. The Wolf Pack beat Boise State (just like the Nevada version did) and one-upped them with a double-blue colored field.
Awesome.
3. Matthew Knight Arena
Matthew Knight Arena features the most daring design of all the courts/fields on this list.
But it just misses out on being the coolest.
2. Half-Grass, Half-Clay Tennis Court
Obviously, this was a complete gimmick never to be used in a real tennis match.
But when Roger Federer (the King of Grass) faced off against Rafael Nadal (the King of Clay), it was an awesome sight to see.
1. Barrow High School's Blue And Yellow, Ocean-Hugging Field
Just read the ESPN.com story; I can't do this justice with anything I say.
And yes, that is the ocean right next to the field.
