This is an article aimed at UK wrestling fans, but please feel free to read and comment on it even if you're in the USA, though it might not make a whole lot of sense.
Here's a heads up for TNA fans in the UK. Currently, TNA Impact is shown on Bravo at 9 P.M. on Saturday nights and again on Bravo 2 on Sundays at 9 P.M.
To remind anyone who didn't hear the news, here's what is said under Bravo's Wikipedia article:
"On 15 September 2010, BSkyB announced that it will close Bravo as well as sister channels Bravo 2 and Channel One. The Bravo channels will close on 1 January 2011, with its most popular programmes moved to other Sky channels including...TNA Wrestling"
Well, I've just scanned a week's worth of TV schedules and I cannot see any TNA show on any Sky channel.
Here's the word on TNA's website:
"On Thursday, TNA President Dixie Carter posted a message to UK Fans about iMPACT in the United Kingdom. Thanks to your messages, Sky responded."
From Sky: "TNA will be broadcast on a different Sky channel when Bravo closes, we are trying to find out which channel this will be and will let you all know as soon as we find out."
From Dixie Carter: "Thanks to all of our fans in the United Kingdom for your support! Your voices truly made a difference today! We are diligently working on a positive outcome for the broadcast of 'iMPACT' in the UK. While we appreciate the tens of thousands of emails, Facebook messages and tweets you have sent us, your comments should be made directly to Sky."
The official word on Sky's Twitter feed is:
"TNA will still be broadcast within the UK on Sky, we are still trying to find out which channel this will be, apologies for the delay."
What? Sky took over Living TV four months ago and you're just sorting it now?
Pardon me for being cynical, but is it just a coincidence that all of WWE's programming just happens to be on Sky TV in the UK? Who knows what unseen, Vince McMahon-shaped hand has been working in the background to stop TNA being shown on any Sky channel, let alone on a non-subscription channel. Currently, RAW and Smackdown are on at the moment on the Sky Sports channels—which are an extra-cost package.
Do you think for one second Vince will not have something to say if, for example, TNA Impact was shown on Sky 1 for free?
So, it seems there will be no Impact this week, UK TNA fans.
Your thoughts please.
