The Craziest Fan Brawls in Sports

Ryan RudnanskyDec 12, 2010

Fan brawls, apparently, are more common than I thought.

Looking across the YouTube universe, there were dozens of videos of fans fighting fans, and narrowing it down to 15 really good ones (or bad ones) was a tough chore.

But I think I came up with a pretty good list, a list violent enough to let the evidence speak for itself: alcohol + angry fans = bad.

You'll see some obvious places you would find a fan brawl, and some not-so-obvious places you'd find one.

Naturally, New York fans appeared a number of times, as well as Dodgers fans and even some San Francisco Giants fans.

Here are the Craziest Fan Brawls in Sports.

Feel free to add some to the list in the comments.

WARNING: GRAPHIC VIOLENCE AND LANGUAGE.

Note: Some videos were not included because you needed a YouTube account to access them. Others were just too blurry.

15. Redskins Fans vs. Vikings Fans

1 of 15

Don't know what sparked this Washington Redskins fans' clash during a Redskins-Vikings game on Nov. 28, but I'm pretty sure it was an argument about who was worse in 2010, Brett Favre or Donovan McNabb.

Good thing Chris Cooley was in the stands.

He was probably like, "Cool it guys, Cool it."

14. Giants Fans vs. Eagles Fans

2 of 15

Fans are passionate about their New York Football Giants. Maybe a little too passionate.

The sequence of events: a) man pushes fan; b) fan punches him in the jaw; c) brawl; d) big young kid turns and goes into rage mode.

13. Raiders Fans vs. Jets Fans

3 of 15

Couldn't see this one coming, could you?

Raiders fans are so crazy their home playground is called "The Black Hole."

Jets fans are notorious fighters.

This video starts with a man falling down 20 stairs and continues from there on out.

Can't see everything in this one, but you can see some arms swinging into some unlucky faces.

12. Steelers Fans vs. Bengals Fans

4 of 15

There are some good punches thrown in this one, but what makes it stand out is the mob mentality egging on the fighters.

Pittsburgh fans apparently cheer after a touchdown, but I like to think they are cheering because of the fight.

11. "Why Are You Fighting, Dad?"

5 of 15

I'm guessing the Marlins fan was unhappy with the way the game was unfolding in this game vs. the New York Yankees.

The child's screams complete this video.

"Why are you fighting, Dad?"

10. Giants Fans vs. Cowboys Fan

6 of 15

This is what happens when a transformer blows out at a football game and the lights go out.

People start throwing things and then get into a brawl.

It's only natural.

I found only one probable Cowboys fan in this clip, and I feel sorry for him.

The Giants fans, however, didn't come out of this unscathed, either.

Yeah, that's not ketchup from their hot dogs on their faces.

9. Scott Niedermayer Causes Brawl

7 of 15

Hockey player Scott Niedermayer wasn't intending to cause a brawl by offering his hockey stick up for grabs.

But he surely did cause one.

His souvenir for "the little girl" turned into an all-out brawl between two loving dads.

Aw, how adorable.

8. White Sox Fans vs. Cubs Fans

8 of 15

I'm not sure what this Cubs fan said to this guy, but I'm pretty sure it's along the lines of, "Jim Thome sucks."

Of course, Aramis Ramirez had to get into the act.

What a troublemaker.

7. Giants Fans vs. A's Fans

9 of 15

This Oakland A's fan absolutely mauled this San Francisco Giants fan.

Ya, he really CRACKED him in the face a few times.

So much for Bay Area love.

6. SF Giants Fan Brawl Remix

10 of 15

This one goes out to the 2010 World Champion San Francisco Giants.

Well, there goes the assumption that Giants fans are "laid back."

Must have been fighting over Tim Lincecum's last bag of Mary Jane.

5. The Fight

11 of 15

This one is fittingly dubbed, "The Fight."

Hmmm...I wonder why.

Oh yeah, probably because of the flying fists, flying water bottles, and flying bodies.

4. World Cup Brawl

12 of 15

The United States and England have seen their world relations take a hit in the past few years.

This brawl demonstrates this fact more than anything.

Try to ignore the "special effects." I know it's hard.

It's probably not wise to make derogatory comments about a European "futbol" team.

It's bound to escalate.

3. U.S. Open Brawl

13 of 15

There aren't many brawls in tennis.

This, however, clearly was one.

Whenever an old man gets into the forefront of a brawl, you know there's something seriously, seriously wrong.

The fact that he falls down a few rows doesn't help either.

So much for tennis being a "gentleman's game."

WARNING: EXTREME LANGUAGE.

2. Attack of the Flying Chairs

14 of 15

It's a wonder that there were still chairs remaining in the stadium after this brawl.

Don't know what material those chairs are made out of, but they sure seem to come unhinged easily.

They don't look like they're that soft, either.

Nothing like getting driven into a corner by flying chairs in a Russian amateur soccer game.

1. Brazil Obviously Takes Its Futbol Seriously

15 of 15

To say this fight spilled across the stadium would be an understatement.

It didn't appear it was over at the end of the video, either.

The lesson at the end of all of this: Steer clear of New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Oakland, San Francisco and Philadelphia.

Also, make sure to avoid soccer stadiums, hockey arenas where hockey sticks are handed out, and the U.S. Open.
