Arkansas Football BCS Bowl Predictions: Are The Razorbacks Sugar Bowl Bound?

James BrownNov 29, 2010

The Arkansas Razorbacks pulled off a major upset over the No. 5 LSU Tigers that may have propelled the team into a BCS Bowl.

When the season started the Razorbacks were not favorites to win the SEC or to go to a BCS Bowl game. Now, after a sound defeat over LSU to end the season, the Razorbacks are well on their way to the Sugar Bowl.

The bowl destination of the Razorbacks is literally dependent on what happens in the SEC Championship game.

If The Auburn Tigers defeat the South Carolina Gamecocks in the SEC Championship game, the Tigers will get an invite to the National Championship game. This will pave a path to New Orleans for the Razorbacks.

If the Tigers lose to the Gamecocks then things get tricky for the Razorbacks. The Gamecocks would be the best team in the SEC and most likely get the invite to the Sugar Bowl. That would leave two possible destinations for Arkansas.

The first possible location for the Hogs will be the Cotton Bowl.

The Cotton Bowl could extend the invite to Auburn, but the Hogs could be the better fit. The Hog fan base will travel to Dallas, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones would love to have his beloved Hogs in house for a big bowl game.

The second location is the Capital One Bowl. This is the alternate location if the Cotton Bowl committee selects Cam Newton and the Tigers. Out of all the possible locations for the Razorbacks, this seems to be the worst case scenario.

The Sugar Bowl, on the other hand, would obviously be the best scenario for the Razorbacks and their fans. The Sugar Bowl committee made the trip to Little Rock to watch the game between Arkansas and LSU, and the rumor is that the winner of the game will get an invite to the BCS Bowl.

Razorback fans are now rooting for Auburn, because a Tiger victory would clinch a Sugar Bowl game and a potential mammoth meeting with the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The high octane offense of the Razorbacks against the brutal Buckeye defense is a must-see match up. The quarterback battle between Ryan Mallett and Terrelle Pryor is enticing, and would be worthy of tuning in.

The school would benefit Arkansas greatly and a victory has the potential to allow the Hogs to finish the season ranked in the top five in the final BCS Standings.

All eyes will be on the SEC Championship game this weekend, and the outcome could change the season for the Arkansas Razorbacks.
