Before I start, I realize that I am going to get heat, and I respect people's opinions on this matter. I respect Shawn Michaels and he is an absolute legend of the WWE, who has filled many of us with joy (and other emotions) each time in the ring performing.
We stand in awe awaiting for Shawn Michaels to deliver The Sweet Chin Music and other "VINTAGE"' (as Michael Cole would say) moves. Just hear me out and decide for yourself at the end (even though people would love to see HBK at WrestleMania 27).
I know most of the IWC have already read that the WWE are interested in using Shawn Michaels as a special guest referee for The Undertaker's match at WrestleMania 27. This might seem like a good idea and all, but where does that leave The Undertaker.
Is The Undertaker just to lose his match, lose his undefeated streak because of Shawn Michaels exacting revenge (if you will) on The Deadman? This will not only make the streak end at 18-1, but this will, in a way, end the career of The Deadman. If this were to happen, there would have to be surely a storyline once again involving the two (or not).
Would Shawn Michaels lose respect of the audience because of his actions? (Especially by the younger generation).
Of course in the end, Shawn would be known as the person that ended the undefeated streak of The Undertaker. Shawn already has a much decorated career, with multiple titles earned, and is a shoe-in to enter the Hall of Fame.
Appearing at WrestleMania 27 and costing The Undertaker the match would be kind of a good way to retire The Undertaker. But this will disappoint the majority of the fans.
So let me sum this up. Shawn Michaels serves as a special guest referee for The Undertaker's match, Shawn Michaels costs The Undertaker the match, and as a result, ends The Deadman's undefeated streak.
Where would it go from there?
Would The Undertaker announce his retirement because of this? Would Shawn Michaels return to the ring? (not likely, but it would be good). So many possibilities, but with little outcome in my opinion.
In conclusion, Shawn appearing at WrestleMania 27 and costing The Undertaker the match would be both good and bad. If The Undertaker decided it was time to hang up his boots he could go out in style.
On the other hand, Shawn already said, "I know how a lot of people feel about career-ending matches, and I know that there are a lot of people that are gonna be skeptical of my decision, I do understand that, I think about it, but I don't want to go back on my word to you, I don't want to go back on my word to The Undertaker. I want to honour my word to you, I want to honour my word to The Undertaker, so I appreciate the 'one more match' but I am going to do everything in my power to make sure it doesn't happen."
Technically he would be in a match and him performing any moves would be going back on his words.
Let me know what you think.
It will be interesting to see if this plan does go ahead. Whatever the WWE has in plan for Shawn or vice versa, I will respect Shawn's decision.
