UFC Fight Night 23: Pat Barry Is Back, and He'll Face Joey Beltran In Fort Hood

Dale De SouzaNov 4, 2010

Mr. "Hype or Die" is back.

After suffering multiple injuries in a bout against Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic in the co-main event of UFC 115, Pat "HD" Barry will see his first fight back in the Octagon, and he'll see that bit of action when the UFC comes to Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.

The young prospect and scary-devastating Kickboxer out of the Roufusport camp in Milwaukee, Wisc., will have his hands full with brutal slugger and rising Heavyweight star Joey "The Mexicutioner" Beltran.

This fight might be a striking clinic if there ever was one, considering how very willing to exchange Beltran was in his UFC 119 Fight of the Night with Matt Mitrione.

Yes, Matt Mitrione was just used in the same sentence as "Fight of the Night."

It did happen, folks. Let's chill out a minute.

Mitrione will be welcoming Tim Hague back into the UFC on the same card, slated to happen on Jan. 22.

MMA Junkie was able to confirm today, however, that this equally intriguing bout would in fact take place at the likely-to-be-heavily-enforced-with-security venue which stands about one hour away from the Lone Star State's capital of Austin.

It's probably advantageous to Barry if the fight only hits the ground when he delivers a shot that knocks Beltran down because if Barry doesn't, Beltran could make this a long night for him.

The most interest I have in this personally is in how HD does in his first fight back.

Was the time off and the subsequent moments helping Brock Lesnar prepare for Cain Velasquez good to Barry, or has the man shown a little bit of cage rust?

He seemed to be moving around well when he was training with Brock, so we'll just have to wait and see.

However this fight turns out, this Heavyweight bout has the potential to be nothing but an all-out war.
