Cruz Azul Edges Puebla through Blood, Sweat, and Tears
Cruz Azul faced Puebla in its home stadium in Mexico. Though Cruz Azul is thriving in the Mexican League and Puebla is facing deep internal strife, Cruz Azul nonetheless barely defeated Puebla.
After so much trouble within the game, Cristian Gimenez managed to score at 80 minutes with a header. The ball went directly into the goal post, surprising Alexandro Alvarez-Olivares of Puebla.
Alvarez-Olivares apparently stepped from the goal post and did not notice the ball. When he finally did, it was too late to prevent the goal.

Puebla was able to dominate the game and keep Cruz Azul inconsistent. Puebla came close to scoring, but the team was never able to finish. In the end, Puebla fell victim to its biggest weaknesses: a lack of concentration and discipline.
Cruz Azul suffered from a weak defense and lack of consistency in its game plan. The team appeared not to have its heart in the match, which led to poor discipline.
The result was one of the most disorganized games of football/soccer in memory, with members of both teams (Horacio Cervantes, Melvin Brown, and Orlando Rincon) receiving yellow cards for avoidable misconducts.
Maybe Cruz Azul won the game, but it lost the battle in the Mexican League for the time being.
