Fantasy Football Week 8: Who To Start

Bruno Boys Fantasy FootballOct 29, 2010

Week 8 brings the first of two weeks of the NFL season, where six teams have a bye week. This makes things a little more challenging than usual.  Some notable players fantasy football owners will be without this week include Roddy White, Ray Rice, Hakeem Nicks and Michael Turner.

This is certainly one of those weeks where roster depth and lineup decisions will make a big difference in winning and losing.

On that note, here are our Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Start ‘Ems for Week 8.

Carson Palmer (Cincinnati Bengals) vs. Miami Dolphins

Palmer went 36-for-50 for 412 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 7. This gives him three games this season with 345 or more passing yards. He also has thrown multiple touchdowns in three straight games.

Week 8 brings a matchup with the Miami Dolphins, who have allowed over 300 passing yards in each of the last two games, along with just one interception.  The Dolphins have intercepted just four passes all season, three of which came in one game in Week 2 against Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings.

Palmer has been inconsistent this season, but he has enough weapons around him to have a very solid week this week and makes for a nice low-end QB1.

Thomas Jones (Kansas City Chiefs) vs. Buffalo Bills

Jones had 20 carries for 125 yards and a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7, which gives him back-to-back 100-yard games with a touchdown.

He continues to see a significant role in the Chiefs’ backfield, with four games of 19-plus carries this season and Kansas City takes on the Buffalo Bills in Week 8.

Buffalo ranks last in the league against the run (174.5 yards per game), so Jones is again worth starting consideration even though he splits carries with Jamal Charles. The Chiefs are definitely committed to the run, so both backs remain fantasy relevant.  Start Jones with confidence this week.

Patrick Crayton (San Diego Chargers) vs. Tennessee

Crayton had a second straight solid outing against the New England Patriots in Week 7, as he had seven receptions for 82 yards in the game. He now has 13 catches (on 20 targets) over the past two games and with an injury to Malcom Floyd, he should start again in Week 8 against the Tennessee Titans.

The Titans have allowed the second-most receptions (105) to opposing wide receivers so far this season and have allowed at least 22 fantasy points to the position in four of their last five games.

If you have a bye week or injury issue at wide receiver this week, Crayton is a solid option, particularly in PPR leagues.
