At this point, the Survivor Series card is difficult to project because we do not know how many traditional 5-on-5 elimination matches we will see. But, I did my best to project the entire card for Survivor Series. The Orton/Barrett match has already been set of course. The rest of it I tried to guess the best that I could. Some of them I have a better idea than others.
(c) Goldust w/Aksana vs. Ted DiBiase w/ Maryse
This would be the weakest match of the card, but they had a solid bout at Bragging Rights. If they give it the proper build over the next few weeks, it could be really solid. The match at Bragging Rights was good, even though it was not advertised that it was going to take place. Goldust is getting up there in age, but he can still go. The Million Dollar Championship adds an interesting twist to this match. It has the potential to be a solid undercard match.
Nexus- Heath Slater, David Otunga, Justin Gabriel, Husky Harris, and Michael McGillicutty
WWE- Big Show, Santino Marella, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston, Kaval
Now we get into the matches I do not know about. I really think the Nexus will have a traditional Survivor Series match. Against whom is the question. I predict that there will be two 5-on-5 matches, so I had to decide which match certain people will be apart of.
I chose Big Show as the leader of team WWE against the Nexus, mainly because I was not sure whom it would be, and I did not have him doing anything else. They are starting to give Santino a push, so I put him in the match.
I tied Kaval into the match with him being in NXT with Harris and McGillicutty, and Kofi made sense. Swagger was put in the match because I was not sure who else to put in it, and I thought he could earn a spot or something.
If this, or any form of Nexus vs. WWE, happens, it should be a nice addition to the card.
(c) Daniel Bryan vs. CM Punk
I actually predicted this match to happen at Survivor Series sometime before Bragging Rights and oh, how excited I am about it.
When CM Punk’s music hit to come out to watch Bryan and Ziggler wrestle Monday night, I knew this match would happen. Although it has not been confirmed or announced or anything, I am pretty sure it will after what we saw Monday. All that happened after the match was Punk applauding for Bryan, but it is painfully obvious this is going to go down. These two men have history in ROH, and they are two of the three best in-ring workers the WWE has today.
If given enough time, this match should tear the rough off the building. As good as Bryan/Ziggler was, this has even more potential. It is a possible match of the year candidate and a possible future Wrestlemania main event.
Team Miz- The Miz, Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, Dolph Ziggler, Alex Riley
Team Mysterio- Rey Mysterio, John Morrison, R-Truth, MVP, Mark Henry
Like I said earlier, I am predicting there to be two traditional Survivor Series matches. On Raw Monday night, The Miz called out Rey Mysterio for next week’s Raw. So, I believe they will end up setting up a Team Miz vs. Team Mysterio match for Survivor Series.
Miz gets his group of heels and matches them up with Mysterio and the faces. Del Rio has been feuding with Mysterio, so I put him on Team Miz. Sheamus and John Morrison appear to have a feud brewing, so I put them on opposite teams and so on and so forth. A lot of great wrestlers and great in-ring ability and it should be a very exciting, fun match to watch if it happens.
(c) Kane w/Paul Bearer vs. Edge
This match has the potential to be great. You have the ultimate heel in the WWE right now, accompanied by his evil manager on one side. Then you have one of the biggest stars and newly turned faces in the WWE on the other side. Edge’s popularity is gaining steam, and he is only going to get more popular. Edge is tremendous in the ring and Kane, even though aged, can still wrestle a very good match.
This is a rivalry renewed, as they had a heated rivalry going on back in 2005. That time, however, the roles were reversed as Edge was heel and Kane was face. It will be interesting seeing how things go with Kane as the heel and Edge as a face. I am really looking forward to this match.
(c) Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett
This should be the main event and a much-anticipated one at that. Like I said, we already know this one is going to take place. The big question is, what will Cena do? Not only do we have the match itself to look forward to, but the intrigue of John Cena and the decision he has to make will make this match even more exciting. I am not making my prediction now, because I am saving it until the week of Survivor Series. The WWE has done a solid job of building up this match. Hopefully the build over the next few weeks leading up to the match will be just as good.
I am really looking forward to Survivor Series, and we have just started the build to it. It looks like they have several options as to where to go. They have already set two matches I am looking forward to, as well as hinting at some other ones. I love the 5-on-5 elimination matches, and if these two come true, it should be exciting. After a solid Bragging Rights, the WWE PPV’s seem to be headed in the right direction.
The upcoming Survivor Series looks like, if given the right build, it could be one of the best PPV’s of the year.
