Line: South Carolina -5
South Carolina shocked the nation when they upset number one Alabama last week. The Gamecocks limited both Ingram and Richardson for a total of 64 rushing yards, one of the most impressive feats of the season. The team’s quarterback, Stephen Garcia threw for three touchdowns as their star freshmen running back, Marcus Lattimore ran for 93 yards and two touchdowns. Kentucky last week proved they are force to watch out for as they nearly upset #8 Auburn last weekend. The team lost 37-34 and look to snap a three game losing skid.
Keys to the Game:
- Kentucky has held on to the smooth connection between quarterback, Mike Hartline and his receiver Randall Cobb. Hartline went 23 for 28, airing it out for 220 yards and a touchdown. While Cobb caught seven of those pass for 68 yards and a touchdown last week.
- South Carolina proved anything can happen this year within this conference. Still, this team remains as arguably the toughest in its conference defensively, with much respect to LSU. The Gamecocks are holding opponents to an average of 18.8 points this season. The defense did take a big shot when it lost their lineback, Shaq Wilson for the season with a hamstring injury.
- Stephen Garcia has showed he has ice in his blood this season; He’s thrown for eight touchdowns in his last three games and has 944 total passing yards. Best of all, his best performances are coming off the tougher teams.
The Kentucky Wildcats should put a scare to the Gamecocks’ high-octane defense this weekend. South Carolina must continue to follow the leadership of their quarterback Garcia, and continue feeding the ball to their sensation freshman, Lattimore. Kentucky very well has the chance to keep this one close, but expect South Carolina’s defense to make sure it’s not neck to neck.
