#20 Oklahoma State Cowboys at Texas Tech Red Raiders
Saturday October 16, 2010 3:30 PM EST
Line: Texas Tech -3
If ever there were a time for Texas Tech to make an impact on the BIg 12, it would be this Saturday. The Red Raiders come into the game with a 3-2 record, but are 1-2 in the Big 12. It will be a tough game for Tech to win considering they are facing the undefeated Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Cowboys come in ranked and are 5-0 with a 1-0 record in the Big 12. The Cowboys got their first road victory last week and are 1-0 on the road. The Red Raiders are 2-1 at home and look to show that they are a contender in the Big 12. These two teams are very similar and this should be a great game.
The Cowboys are horrible on defense and great on offense. Their defense comes in at 87th overall with 29.2 points a game. Their offense has put up 52.6 points a game, 2nd in the nation. Their passing game has been high powered and has averaged 362 yards a game, 2nd best in the nation. Junior QB Brandon Weeden has 1,610 yards with 18 TDs and 6 Ints. His favorite target is Sophomore WR Justin Blackmon who has 748 yards with 11 TDs. The Cowboy rushing game is averaging 164.2 yards a game which is 51st in the nation. Senior RB Kendall Hunter has been on a tear with 700 yards and 9 TDs.
The Red Raiders attempted the oddest on-side kick of the year in their last game. The ball was kicked, about 5 yards. 3 Red Raiders stood around while a Baylor player came in and picked the ball up and ran it in for a touchdown. Tech managed to win the game 45-38. This Red Raider team is very similar to the Cowboys. Their defense has been bad giving up 31.6 points a game, 98th overall. Their offense comes in with 36.8 points a game which is 17th in the nation. The Red Raiders have gotten no help out of the running game which is averaging 102.8 yards a game, 103rd worse. Their passing game matches up with the Cowboys passing game however. They are 4th in the nation with 333.2 yards a game. Senior QB Taylor Potts has 1,649 yards with 16 TDs and 4 Ints. Potts favorite WR is Senior Lyle Leong who has 461 yards with 9 TDs.
As football picks go, this is a tough one. The Cowboys offense has been on an absolute tear and should be able to put up points vs this below average Red Raider defense. The same goes for the Red Raiders as well. They should be able to put points up against the Cowboys. I think the Cowboys will be too much and should be able to win this game which will be a shootout. Look for the score to be over 69.
