This occured in 53 minutes of the game and the applause was deafening in the stadium.

The previous time that such a victory occurred against Club America was when Cesareo Victorino and Sebastian Abreu scored two goals on Feb. 16, 2002.

The results leaves Cruz Azul in first place with 15 points in the Mexican Bicentennial 2010 Tournament while Club America remains in fifth place with eight points.

Cruz Azul played their best and were disciplined and organized. The only exception was the two yellow cards administered to Gerardo Torrado and Gonzalo Pineda within the end of the game.

Club America managed to make fools of themselves with their lackluster play and lack of discipline. The club managed to play into the hands of Cruz Azul.

The players of Club America received yellow cards which appeared to be five for misconduct. The icing on the cake for the club was the expulsion of Oscar Rojas for using excessive force against Cruz Azul player Javier Aquino Carmona.

It was great to have seen history in the making with these two teams and the well deserved victory of Cruz Azul
