To call Venus Williams' choice of wardrobe "unique" would be an understatement, and the this year's U.S. Open outfits have been no different.

Venus has said that she is trying to base her outfits on the cities she plays in, and this dress was supposed to represent New York.

According to Venus, this outfit reminded her of fireworks, so it was very fitting that she chose it to wear at the U.S. Open.

This see-through number has brought much attention to the older Williams sister, but this isn't the first time we've been mesmerized by her apparel.

Let's take a look at the most outrageous outfits worn by Venus Williams throughout the years.

2010 U.S. Open

Keeping with the fireworks theme, Venus also wore this red version of the see-through black outfit at the Open.

It looks like Venus really is proud to be an American.

Venus wore this colorful number to the 2009 French Open, and the look works for her. I guess she was channeling Claude Monet when she picked out this outfit to wear in France.

2005 Australian Open

Venus looked adorable in this pink, black and white outfit which she wore during the 2005 Australian Open. Complete with matching visor, this is definitely one of Venus' more modest choices.

This turquoise outfit is a cross between golfer and cheerleader. Venus sure likes to experiment with fashion.

Like other outfits worn by Venus Williams, this one sparked controversy.

Well, it was actually what was underneath this outfit that had people talking. Venus wore flesh-colored underwear under this dress, and from afar it looked like she had nothing underneath her clothes.

Scandalous!

This is another outfit that caught the attention of the public. Venus seems to be channeling her inner Victoria's Secret model...and maybe a ballerina?

Venus sure likes to mix genres when it comes to her on-court fashion. This outfit is a little bit cheerleader, a little bit preppy, and a tiny bit race car driver.

Another sparkly dress for the U.S. Open.

Only this one was back in 2005. Venus' dress is a light purple with some gold bling to add some character.

And here is the outfit that everyone is buzzing about. It's tight. It's see-through.

And we're lucky this is women's tennis.

Although it would be interesting to see Roger Federer wearing something similar.

And Serena Approves!

And apparently Venus didn't share her choice of outfit with sister, Serena Williams, because she seems as shocked as the rest of us. We're sure that Serena approves of her sister's unique style.
