Bellator 27: Was Joe Warren's Upset Over Joe Soto the Comeback of the Year?

Jason Schielke@jasonschielkeCorrespondent ISeptember 3, 2010

Last night from the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, TX, Joe Warren was looking like he was just seconds away from being taken out by reigning Featherweight champion Joe Soto.

In the first round, Soto was having his way with Warren.  It seemed that everything Soto was throwing was connecting and hurting Warren badly and all Warren could do was attempt to clinch, which he did to no avail.

Soto was so comfortable with his striking that he hung his hands around his waste, which Bellator commentator Jimmy Smith compared to a "1995 Roy Jones Jr."

It appeared that Soto was well on his way to an easy victory over the older and less experienced Warren.  But when the bell rang to start the second round, well, check out the video and see for yourself.

This has been a year full of come from behind victories in MMA, and this fight is just another one to add to the list of potential candidates for that honor come years end. With four months and many events yet to be held, it's a pretty safe assumption that there will be at least a few more fights to enter the discussion.
