A Boxing Fantasy: Floyd Mayweather Moves To 42-0

last night the mega fight the whole world had been begging for happened. Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao finally met in the the one place that would determine who was really the best pound for pound fighter in the world.

Manny came out swinging and landed a few shots. he won the first three rounds due to Mayweathers lack of volume punches. 

however it was clear around the middle of the fourth round Manny was gonna have to settle down and pick his shots wisely. due to the fact Mayweather opened a cut over Mannys right eye. Manny was throwing but not landing and Mayweather was picking up the pace.

he had manny on the ropes in the seventh round with a flurry that started with a Mayweather straight right that backed Manny up.

Manny seemed to be coming back in the 8th round but in the 9th round Mannys eye was bleeding even worse than before. floyd was waving manny over taunting him as if to say come get me.

manny stepped into a few mayweather punches and then it happened Manny landed a left hook that shook Mayweather to his core. suddenly Floyd was dropped to the canvas. for the first timed in Mayweathers career we saw the pretty boy on the canvas.

Mayweather got up at the count of 6 and got back to action as the bell rang Manny stared at Mayweather as if to say i got you where i want you.

the 10th round started with Floyd smothering Manny landing hard shots on the inside and moving out just when it seemed Manny was getting the better of him.

Floyd stayed consistent and in control landing a package of left hooks and jabs as Manny got close. jim lampley said it best in the 10th round.

'' Pacquiao needs to find a better way to get on the inside he's getting hit with far too many Mayweather jabs''.

in the 11th round mannys eye was a bloody mess and Floyd made him pay, cutting the ropes off on Manny and putting Manny in the corner for most of the round.

the bell rang for the 12th and final round and both fighters came out more determined than ever. both fighters were landing good shots Manny landing few of the punches he threw. while Floyd seemed to be on the move not taking any chances landing his jab at will the bell rang and the fight was over.

both fighters looked nervous as michael buffer was handed the scorecards. buffer reads the first scorecard ''bert clements scores the bout 113-114 Pacquiao'' the look on Mayweathers face is disbelief. michael buffer reads the second card ''dave moretti scores the bout 115-113 Mayweather'' Manny is saying a prayer as Michael buffer reads the third and final card. ''judge Jerry Roth scores the bout 115-113 all to the winner by split decision and new super welterweight wbc champion Floyd Money Mayweather''.

Larry Merchant interviews Floyd '' well we had a great game plan me and my uncle roger we just got back to the basics we had really great sparring partners and an all around great camp''. Merchant says congratulations to Floyd as he turns to Pacquiao ''he is very hard to hit i thought i had him in the 9th round but the bell rang and i couldn't finish him,but we will be back and i want a rematch''.

just like that the fight the world had been craving was over. it was one of the most exiting fights of all time. it left me with just one thought,  Floyd may have emerged victorious but there was no doubt these were the two very best fighters of this generation pound for pound.
