Nascar: After the Montreal Race Do You Still Miss the Cup Guys?

Can you agree with that?

Sunday afternoon was the best race I’ve seen in years and this is coming from a fan who watches just about everything that moves.

That finish was amazing!

If we could have this type of racing in Cup problems with television ratings or track attendance would be a thing of the past.

I believe the reason this race had so many great moments is because the drivers who were in the hunt for the checkered flag had to win, I understand every driver wants to win but there are some who “have” to win.

They’re looking for credibility as a NASCAR driver.

Max Papis, Boris Said, Paul Menard and Jacques Velleneuve were racing like their lives depended on it, something us fans—at times—don’t see in Cup.

Agree?

I’m wondering if NASCAR can bring that type of urgency to its Cup series.

Would a different point system or shorter races get drivers to race with more urgency?

Would a halftime (of sorts) where teams can have a 15 minute break to get their cars back in shape help the racing, in other words a real competition yellow.

Everybody has their own theory on why NASCAR ratings are down, some folks like to go back to the roots so they race from the back of granny’s truck, some folks want the return of Darrell Waltrip and Jimmy Spenser. (sorry that’s a bit over the top)

You know all the theories, but only one thing can fix what ails NASCAR, it's actually very simple, is called RACING! yep folks, that’s the name of that medicine, RACING, just like they did in Sunday’s Nationwide race at the Circuit Gilles Villanueva.

Racing, what a concept.

No whining or crying over someone racing you hard, no bellyaching because someone tagged you out of the way, just good old racing.

Are you tired of listening to the millionaires complain about other divers not getting out of their way?

I guess they don’t want to get their uniform dirty.

I’m only in my fourth year as a NASCAR fan, I’ve been trying to read and watch all I can about the history of NASCAR, hey, I’m jumping on the band wagon bring back some of those old racers, maybe we can clone them, now that’s an idea.

The racing in Cup is beginning to remind me of a Formula 1 race, a parade of good looking cars taking a nice Sunday drive, actually this is cool, IF IT WAS A CAR SHOW!

As always this is just a fans opinion and from what I understand everybody has one and I thank God for that.

Enough said.
