Brett Favre, LeBron James and 10 Stories We're Sick of Reading About
I'm guilty of it. I know.
But it's like an addiction. You see the name LeBron or Favre staring back at you from the B/R front page, and you just want to log in and get to typing.
What do they eat? What are they doing?
So that's why I stand here before you, proudly admitting that I haven't written about LeBron or Brett in over 24 hours... (self applause).
Thank you, but now that I have proven that I can do it, let's get back to them.
What are the ten stories that you are tired of hearing about?
I think I know.
Honorable Mention: Who Is Kim Kardashian Dating?
1 of 11
I mention this only because I know you need your Kim Kardashian fix.
We're not really tired of her, so I won't get ridiculous.
How can you be tired of that? (I wonder what she is doing right now.)
Anyway, back to the program...
10. Can Boise State Win The BCS Title?
2 of 11
This one is tiresome because we talk about a non-BCS conference team crashing the party every year.
Last year they got the closest to doing it, so what did those in power do to make sure there was no talk of a split title?
They made Boise State play TCU instead of a BCS school.
Why? Let's say Boise State beats Florida hypothetically, couldn't they call for a split title?
They would be undefeated and they could say that they beat a BCS power house.
In order to avoid that, you make the two outsiders play each other so that we never find out if they could have beaten Texas, Florida or Alabama.
So to answer the question, no. They won't crash the BCS title game.
But feel free to keep writing about it.
9. K-Rod's Indiscretions
3 of 11
It's not that this story is old, it's just unpleasant.
And if it involved a team possibly going to the playoffs, maybe it would be more relevant.
No offense, Mets fans.
But you have a guy who wasn't pitching that great and a team that's not playing that well.
It's news because of his actions, but we can move on to better topics, right?
8. Isiah Thomas and the Knicks
4 of 11
You have to hand it to New York teams, they know how to stay in the press even without winning.
Isiah now is the man who can tell us whether or not Carmelo is going to the Knicks.
Even though he has a day job as a college coach and has no official affiliation with the New York Knicks.
Wasn't he brought on to seal the deal and bring LeBron to New York?
How did that work out?
7. Will Carmelo and Chris Paul Go to New York?
5 of 11
Maybe to visit, do some shopping.
Let me make this simple: neither of them is going anywhere without the teams, that have them under contract, approving of their departures.
And as of right now, neither the Hornets nor the Nuggets are giving up on keeping their stars.
New York has very little that either team would want in a trade.
So technically we might as well ask if Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are going to sign with New Orleans and form a "Big three" with Brees.
They can alternate drives so that none of them get hurt and they can guarantee another title for the Saints.
We're all just guessing.
6. Will Tiger Woods Make The Ryder Cup Team?
6 of 11
He better or Jim Gray is going to have to slap somebody.
Tiger isn't having a great year.
He doesn't dominate at the Ryder Cup even on his best years.
So, will it make a difference either way?
5. Will Phil Mickelson Get to The No. 1 Ranking?
7 of 11
Maybe.
If he plays better. Do we need him there?
Is there a belt that comes with the number one spot?
If so, I want to see the ceremony where Tiger has to begrudgingly hand it over and Phil holds it over his head.
If not, let's just wait and see what happens.
4. Brandon Marshall To Play in The NBA If There Is a Lockout
8 of 11
This story proves that we run out of things to talk about.
This made it on to "PTI" and "Around the Horn".
How is a wide receiver, who has yet to play a regular season game with his new team, saying that he would like to play for the Miami Heat newsworthy?
Penny Hardaway would like to play for the Heat. So would Stephon Marbury.
Hell, so would Li'l Penny.
College basketball All-American players have a tough time making the NBA, but Brandon Marshall will?
Yeah. Okay.
3. Can The New York Jets Win The Superbowl Without Revis?
9 of 11
Umm... No.
The Jets have won only one Superbowl in the franchise's history and now they want to do it without their best player?
This should not be headline news.
We know they can't win it all without him. They know it, too.
Hell, he is the second lead of "Hard Knocks" without even being there.
2. Can Lebron Win a Title Or Seven in Miami?
10 of 11
Not over the summer he can't.
The season ended and his team was eliminated by a bunch of cagey veterans.
But from that moment to now, he has dominated the headlines.
I can't promise not to write about him, because people seem to want to know what the kid is doing.
But I just wanted you to know that I feel your pain.
1. They Call Him Mr. Favre
11 of 11
There is nothing else that can be said about the man.
He doesn't care that we think he is indecisive.
He doesn't care that people criticize him for putting himself in front of the team.
What he does know is that whatever move he makes, it will be reported and the masses will read it.
So why not milk it for a little while longer?
Will we be talking about him when he really retires...
thirty years from now?
