Manny Pacquiao: Should Manny Get More Money Than Floyd Mayweather?

Troy SparksAug 16, 2010

There was a request, according to Bleacher Report boxing writer, Leo Reyes, from Manny Pacquiao.

He wanted to earn more money in his upcoming fight with Antonio Margarito than Floyd Mayweather made in his bout with Shane Mosley.

It was reported that Mayweather cleared $22.5 million in the May fight.

Pacquiao asked promoter Bob Arum for more money on top of what he's supposed to get for his November fight to surpass Mayweather's figures.

It was suggested, according to the Examiner, that he should ask for one dollar over the payout for Mayweather.

That would be a total of $22,500,001.

I believe Bill Russell of the Boston Celtics asked Red Auerbach to give him one more dollar than Wilt Chamberlain.  He deserved it.  Look at the championships the team won with Russell to the titles Chamberlain won.  That being the case, I think Pacquiao is being too greedy.

He'll get his cash when he proves that he can beat Mayweather.  Right now, there's a lot of hype building up to this unnegotiated fight between the idle boxers.  Some anti-Pacquiao readers refer to Mayweather as "gayweather."

Mayweather isn't gay. Ask his baby mamas, they'll tell you.  I want to know why an undefeated fighter is called the second best boxer.  I'd like to know who's the first, because Pacquiao doesn't look like the best boxer in the sport today.

What about the boxers in the other weight divisions?  Do they get some respect, or should they wait in line for the Filipino king to retire?  Pacquiao certainly won't pass up Mayweather as the money king.  His payday will be more than the $22.5 million he wants.

People fear that Mayweather will lose to the highest-paid boxer of the decade.  I want to know which decade would that be?  Floyd Jr. won that title in the last decade with the fight against Oscar De La Hoya, in my opinion.

Since this is a new decade, and the pay-per-view, TV rights and gate receipts are expected to go through the roof in the superfight, Mayweather will come out on top again.

Maybe he can use some of that money and pay his back rent on the office space he leased in Las Vegas.
