The most important time for any player is when they're young. Ideally during their high school career. If that is true, Simeon High School's Jordan Diamond is ahead of the pack and with the last name Diamond, you know this kid is something special.
The 6'6" 290-pound left tackle/defensive end is only a junior in high school but already getting the notice from some of the top schools in the nation. That's not important to Diamond at this point and time. His main focus remains on continuing to get better on the field and in the classroom.
On the field, an improvement might be scary. With a balanced playing style Diamond just enjoys playing and says, "I love to run block, I can also pull around and trap block and I'm also known as an excellent pass protector."
You talk about someone with drive, Diamond has more then drive. "I always thank God every day I wake up and step on to that field because he provides me with another chance to become better. I also love all of my competition because I love to compete with the best of them, that's how I get better. Also none of this would be complete without my family's support they are always my number one fans."
Diamond is a kid on a mission but still a kid nonetheless. While most kids enjoy the teenage life Diamond enjoys getting better and more focused "The things I love to do off the field are play sports, keeping my body active, watching a lot of football and learn from film."
If there was one thing you wouldn't know about him right away it's what Diamond is like off the field " I'd want people to know that I'm a very laid back, respectful guy who can make you laugh, but on the field I'm all business. I am a very hard worker who remains humble but I love to have fun."
Where has Diamond learned from? "My favorite player is Jake Long he is an all around offensive lineman and very exciting to watch for those trying to learn from him like myself." Well his play is already turning the heads of scouts from: Illinois, Ohio St. Penn St, Michigan, Michigan St, Minnesota, Miami (FL), Oregon, Tennessee, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Nebraska. Just to name a few.
If all continues this way, move over Jake Long there's a Diamond in the rough and his name is Jordan Diamond, you can find him fighting hard in the trenches till the whistle blows.
