Let me preface this article by stating, I always liked Shaq. He's not that polarizing if you think about it. He does some things that annoy you, like a big brother, but he has never been in trouble off the court.

He gives so much to charities and kids with his Christmas thing that he does every year. And the guy is funny. Of course he has detractors who think that he is a prima donna, but what superstar athlete isn't if they stay in the spotlight long enough?

Anyway, here are my top ten nicknames for the big guy now that he is making his final tour.

I am also open to suggestions in the comments section. If we get a really good one I'll remix this list and add it on.

10. "The Big JGG"

Knowing Shaq, (we hang out every once and a while) he would say it like that so that he could explain it to you. JGG of course meaning Jolly Green Giant, but sounds much cooler as initials.

What? It's No. 10! They'll get better.

And a shout out to Minnesota for having something like this up.

9. "The Big Paps"

Original_display_image

As in Jonathan Papelbon, the Red Sox closer. Shaq knows other sports and even though Paps isn't having a great year, or didn't have great one last year, he is the closer and became famous for doing that.

And for riverdancing.

8. "The Big Chowdah"

You can never underestimate how bad a Shaq joke will be. And I guarantee you this will be one of his options.

Shaq loves cliches and this is a New England favorite.

By the way, there's no better chowder.

7. "The Big Kennedy"

Original_display_image

Another Boston cliche. And since they are considered local royalty, you can bet the big guy will say it at least one time in the next two years.

If he stays for two, that is.

6. "The Big 18"

Original_display_image

Shaq always likes to make claims of bringing titles to towns. He is two-for-five, which would make him Hall of Fame-bound if he were a baseball player.

The Big 18 as in the 18th banner.

5. "St. Shaq-Trick's Day"

Original_display_image

He knows all about the Celtics and all the Irish motifs. He knows about St. Patrick's day. So, you can believe he will rename himself that day.

No green beer, though. I don't think the big guy drinks.

4. "The Big Cigar"

Original_display_image

Legend has it that every time legendary coach Red Auerbach coached the C's to a title instead of waiting for the fat lady to sing, he would light up a cigar to signify that series was over and that Boston had won the title.

Paul Pierce, Doc Rivers, and Danny Ainge all lit up after the last title. I hear opponents hated the tradition. Shaq won't.

3. "The Big Shamrock"

Original_display_image

I think someone on ESPN already said it. Really easy and pretty cool.

No, the Big Four Leaf Clover did not make the list, so don't send it in.

2. "The Big Crispus Attucks"

Original_display_image

You should know this from fifth grade history but as a refresher, Crispus Attucks was "killed in the Boston Massacre" and according to Wikipedia is known as the first martyr of the American Revolution.

Smooth looking guy, but I don't know about the turtle neck. Does anyone know Shaq so I can get this list to him?

1. "The Big Leprechaun"

Original_display_image

Who wouldn't pay money to see Shaq dressed as a leprechaun? The picture is of course from the Oscar winning film by Steven Spielberg titled "Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood."

Who has a better nickname?

Let me hear them...
