My Thumb Does Not Fit: Summer League Bowling 2010, Week Six

Last week we bowled the second place team after making up three weeks previously for starting the league late.

These guys are really good, as a husband/wife averages 229 and 209 so far. They also have a couple of 175-200 average other members, so we got stuffed.

The heat is really wicked in Florida now, and my thumb has swelled a bit since I have not bowled for four years or so.

The grey Rhino needs replacing but I'm averaging 185 with a 14-year-old ball. I can't get my thumb in the newer Storm ball, so out comes the thumb insert until the size of my thumb is a little more normal.

I roll the ball with a short hard break, and try to stay light in the pocket, rather than high.

I love the style of Walter Ray, and also am pretty good at horseshoes. Same motion with the arm swing, kind of.

The second-place team bowled mid 900s with handicap. How can a team be better than these guys? Sheesh! Can't wait for the first place guys.

My team has a 90 average, a 110 average, and a 150. I'm at currently at 185 and was outgunned entirely. My high game since returning to bowling after a four-year absence this summer is 253. High series is 649 so far. My hearty little team is 21-21 and in sixth place out of eight teams.

Nice to see a bowling page.  I will keep you updated on league activity and all my failings as well. I bowl Thursday nights so I will report back Friday.
