Pac-16? USC Trojans NCAA Sanctions? One Thing at a Time, Pac-10
Hey football fiends,
Yeah, I’ve been quiet. But I had to break my usual April-June silence to comment briefly on this proposed Pac-16 business.
ESPN is reporting tonight that invites have gone out to Colorado, Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State to join the new Pac-16.
Um. Yeah. I have to be honest, I have not completely formulated an opinion on it. So let me sleep on it and get back to you tomorrow.
Deadlines for Nebraska to decide if they are joining the Big Ten are approaching—fast. And it seems common wisdom has it if Nebraska bolts from the Big 12, the Big 12 will cease to exist.
That seems...untrue to me, to be honest. I mean Texas alone brought in as much revenue from their football program as the entire rest of the Big 12 Conference did in 2009. It seems to me that whatever Texas WANTS to do, it will be successful at doing.
And it seems some amalgamation of the old Southwest Conference could happen here...
Anyway, as if that wasn’t earth shattering news for all Pac 10 and Big 12 fans...we’ve also got the matter of NCAA Sanction on USC coming out tomorrow potentially.
Seeing that USC has a press conference scheduled for tomorrow and the NCAA gives schools 48 hours notice of delivery of their report...Well, tomorrow seems to be D-Day all around, doesn’t it?
I lean towards being excited about the idea of a Pac-16. Damn, the Pac-10 has been crapped on for so many years, you know? We’d be a force to be reckoned with...
Well...expect more from me tomorrow or Friday.
Exciting times and angst-ridden times—will USC get a slap on the wrist or some serious sanctions? We will soon find out.
For now, I remain…
