NHRA Qualifying Results from Atlanta Dragway

Larry Dixon, Ashley Force Hood, Allen Johnson and Hector Arana lead NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing qualifying for Sunday's SummitRacing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway in Atlanta,GA.

Larry Dixon is No. 1 qualifier in Top Fuel with a 3.82 at 316.80 mph in his Al-Anabi Racing Dragster with Doug Kalitta in second and a strong qualifying run from Brandon Bernstein in the No. 3 spot going into Sunday's final eliminations.

Ashley Force Hood has the No. 1 spot in Funny Car as she ran a 4.10 at 304.60 mph in her Castrol GTX Mustang, teammate Robert Hight remains in the second spot and father John Force is No. 9 on the qualifying lineup heading into rounds on Sunday. John Force comes into Atlanta with the point lead will he keep it? find out Sunday.

Allen Johnson in the Mopar was fast well at least good enough to beat Mike Edwards who has been the dominant driver in Pro Stock. Johnson has the No. 1 qualifying spot with a 6.63 at 208.23 with Edwards running a 6.64 at 208.07. The field is tight in Pro Stock and Mike Edwards has a dominant lead in the standings so everyone else will try to score a win come elimination time.

Hector Arana, the defending Pro Stock Motorcycle champion, is the No. 1 qualifier after a very exciting final round of qualifying that seen the top spot switch several times. Matt Smith was No. 1 on Friday but he was bumped by Andrew Hines Saturday and then David Hope but Arana would come up a run a 6.91 at 193.96 on the Lucas Oil Buell to take the top spot going into Sunday's final rounds from Atlanta.
